Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You believe incorrectly. Where did you get that from? Nobody here axed him, trust me, he axed himself if anything. He’s been lurking around here and there but not choosing to post, in fact he just peeked in less than an hour ago. Maybe Vol is coaching him.

Aha. That makes more sense. I stand corrected.

Seen them done. The surgery is trivial—even a neurologist can do it—and all the skill is in handling the tissue properly to get an accurate diagnosis.

A drill isn't a difficult tool to operate. The center punch is the most important part of the whole process.

I hope I don’t get ostracized. It’s the equivalent of a combo slide rule/pocket protector in the eyes of “serious” cyclists.

It’s the Take-A-Look mirror.
Give it at least a week of use before deciding.

Well it finally happened

Went for a fast group ride. With a new group of guys, from a local bike shop. Having a great ride until, I went to take a left to go home. While sitting at the stoplight, a driver left hooked, head on into me. A lovely ambulance ride, three broken ribs, a concussion, a large bruise and cuts on my left leg, and several other scrapes and bumps and bruises. Lovely one night stay in the hospital, but I’m home now.
Now I’ll just have to be patient and healed up.

Yes! There, but for the grace of God...

Too bad the crash didn't straighten out those seat stays.

First ride with it and it feels funny. Made me a little car-sick. Adjustment not quite right.

But I will give it a bit more time before I decide.

ouch. Heal up quick. did the driver stop or did they just continue on? At least your bike doesn't look too badly damaged.

Wow that sucks but glad you're able to type.

If the driver didn't stop or isn't insured, depending on your state's laws, your injuries, damage, pain, etc. may be covered under your own auto policy (uninsured motorist coverage).
Don't discuss details on here or social media if you decide to follow up with your insurance or theirs.

I find it's adjusted best when you can barely see the edge of your ear and the top of your shoulder while riding on the tops. Somehow, this gives orientation to the image further back.
But I use a Third Eye, not a Take-a-Look. (I like to think the Third Eye is slightly less dorky, because it's smaller and round.)

Exactly. Then start slow at first and gradually speed up, taking care not to overheat the bit.
