Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If my driveway wasn't so steep I'd seriously consider staying put in this house until the cows come home. But that 25% driveway is a killer after a winter storm.

Notice how the city native has unavoidably picked up some local rural expressions.

Our votes were counted. October 5th.
We currently live 200 meters outside the village limit. We have butane trucked in, village water, plus a drilled well, and 100% solar for electricity. Trash pickup twice a week, but we rarely put much out.

what is the other 75%? Gravel, therefore not a proper road?

We have our home heating oil trucked in, that's a fairly common thing in the NE I believe. It's all good until the tank leaks.

Wow, it's raining bigly out there. Between today's deluge and the weekend's big freeze, I may need to consider renewing my Zwift subscription sooner than planned.

Oooh - I guess I haven't been reading closely enough. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out, but glad to hear that you're able to move on without a wreck of a relationship.

In the double-edged sword category, my wife bought my favorite key lime pie... a whole one. Now I'm going to feel compelled to not waste it, but I'm also not going to throw the daily calorie deficit out of the window... which means a lot of work offsetting. Oy.
