Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mrs. LAJ had a port installed for her chemo. One learns a lot through that process.

Thanks guys!

She's been cancer free for a few years. So far, so good. I didn't really mention it at the time, because it was just a strange and eye opening time.

I actually rarely eat them. The last time I can remember ordering one was in 2017, but I know I have had a couple of slices of them here and there, like when we have had bowling night after staff meetings.

Much different story when I was younger.

Kind of a hard one with that old thing, it's a lovely and pretty bike but at the end of the day it's just too big for me. Plus I think I've ridden it maybe 6 times in the last year.

I'm keeping the really hard to find drivetrain parts and rack though .

I'll have another bike like it in the future but for now a full suspension MTB is calling...
I just saw the listing. Was it a big deal surgically moving the brake bridge?

Since moving to Central New York, our intake slowed dramatically. Just when we'd go back to Philly metro area. But this little shop, that opened a year or two ago makes a really good cheesesteak. Like they would fit right in round Philly, so we have their steak sandwich a couple of times a month.

They also make other delicious sandwiches.

There must be another word for news that is old. The Penman would know. And, quite possibly, Mrs. rjones28

When I rode across the country BITD we spent two nights in Bowling Green, OH. Came across a place that advertised cheesesteak. Turns out the guy had moved out there from Philly and opened a shop. Got one. It was pretty darn good. Same thing had happened when I was in law school in Pittsburgh. Philly guy moved it there and opened a sandwich shop during my third year. Good steaks. Became my go-to spot, especially after a night at my local bar, which was only a block away. The rest off the steaks in Pittsburgh were not like back home.

One odd thing in Pittsburgh was that if you ordered a hoagie, many places would automatically bake/toast it in the pizza oven for a while. We Philly folks call that a "grinder", and you have to ask for it specifically. I went out there to look for housing before school started and ordered an Italian hoagie at a place that was not busy. I kept wondering what was taking them so damn long to make a hoagie. (I had worked in a cheesesteak/hoagie/beer place the summer before my final year of college.) When they finally called me up to the counter I realized they had made me a grinder.

This guy is not from Philly, but he takes the staff on a pilgrimage (his word for it) to Philadelphia every year on a sandwich shop tour.

Also, I rolled my eyes at the name of the joint at first -- Gino's Cheese Steak and Onion. But one of the owners is named Gino.
