I guess there's something to be said for structured days and PARA. I never would have thought I would like it, after working commission for so many years. What I lost in money, I gained in time. The pendulum came by at the right time, and I jumped on.

When I got this:
I got excited. Then I got a call and it won't be built until saturday.
It will be almost two weeks from my order until I take delivery. Oh well, my last new bike was placed in service July 1, 2004 so what's a few days.

Finally going to take a rest day. Temps in the 90s and a mid-day appointment at the urologist makes for a good day to take off from riding. Besides, my pedaling machines have been working hard and need a well deserved rest.

Grrrrr... radar made it look like I had a ~3 hour window to ride under cloudy, but not rainy, skies. I got all prepped and was ready to pop on my shoes when I noticed the sound of automobile tires on wet roads outside. Yep. Raining steadily.

The judge stuff doesn't appeal to me. I would never put myself in a position where I was sending people to prison or listening to divorces. Add a rigid schedule and docket and a ton of hours, especially in this county, and the job sucks. I couldn't do many of the things my family likes to do and I'm not wired to go home and feel good about standing in judgment.

I bought my 2020 paper calendar this morning at Office Depot. I get nervous they won't have the right one, so I struck early.

I just brought my 2020 to the office...one from the Nature Conservancy they sent me a few months ago.... along with a reminder that I could send them more and larger donations

It makes sense. How long have you worked for the state? I used to. I'd have a boatload of PERA if I stayed and before they run out of money.

Interesting on the judgeship, and the hours. I would have thought it was more of a 9-5 type gig, but I've certainly never been on that side of the bench. At some point, sentencing on some people would be satisfying, but overall, I see your point.

Got stir-crazy so I decided to just HTFU and go out on a short, cold, rainy ride. The new Rapha jacket is probably my most water-resistant piece, so I decided to test it out. In short, I think it's brilliant, so far, and not just in colour.
I assumed that it would be a little warm for even moderate efforts (it was in the mid-50s with steady wind/rain), so I kept my HR low after I got warmed up. I could certainly feel the heat creep up when my HR got above 125 or so, so I tried to keep it under that. I don't think that it's completely water-proof, but it did a nice job of shedding the vast majority of the rain. The front panels also did a great job with respect to wind. The back panel did a nice job in terms of breathing, though the arms were a touch clammy by the time I got home. It just might be my new favorite bit of cycling attire, so I'm super happy with it at the 70 bucks that I paid for it (both red and pink are still available at that price, BTW, if you're a XS, S, M or L).

The only charity ride I'll do is the one benefiting Craig Hospital. 100 miles to start the day, is always a good day. Riding with valygrl, and other teamies, is a plus. A teammate suffered a spinal injury in a private plane crash, and they've been invaluable to him. Not to mention guys like Sam Schmidt and lately, Robert Wickens. Somehow, they've been able to rehab Wickens to the point of being able to practice for his first dance at his upcoming wedding.

While you could do that and while the purchase may have great fit, style and functionality....iirc its PINK. I for one am secure enough in my own insecurities to admit that this male does not wear pink, doubly so when in Spandex bottoms. The neighbors already consider me an item for biking in "kit".

Whenever I get a new piece of raingear, I put it on and then step into the shower. I like to know before I go.

Should you decide you want to give some beet powder a try, there is a great deal going on. There was a mixup in the batch, and some came out hardened in the canister. Add water, and shake a couple times a day for a few days, and you have some beets for 1/4 the price.
https://purecleanperformance.com/pur...-juice-powder/ Go with the 4 for $49.00.
