Dito on the "spoke to me". Sometimes these bike need a second chance to get them back into the world. That little dude was not ready for the recycle center, someone else can certainly appreciate it. I would rather see the world filled with vintage road bikes than cheap NEXT rides. Thanks for doing your part man!

Forgive the front brake cable routing, which was promptly corrected after the photo was taken.

This was found at the curb on trash day in Wake Forest NC during my last year of repping before returning to school, and this one has a shop story. Raleigh Sports ladies' 23" green with a '69 SA hub date, another rare bird and one I'm keeping for the day when I can no longer swing a leg over my men's 23" Sports and need a step-through frame. I'm anticipating riding well into my dotage. Shop sticker says it's from Cycles & Sports in Washington DC. I'd called on this shop in my repping days and at the time it was the oldest continuously original-family ownership shop in the U.S., according to owner Pearl, an old lady then (late '80s) and the daughter of the founder. The shop had sold by the time I found the bike so I never got to show Pearl the bike from her store, but named it for her. It's been boxed up since I brought it home more than 15 years ago, but appears to need only a rear tube to be roadworthy.

I need to ban myself from Ebay, just picked this up. Probably paid too much but it had everything I had been looking for to do my first STI conversion using an RSX triple group. Near as I can tell it's about a 1990, paint will clean up well and all decals look to be in very good shape.
(Just noticed the bottom of the top tube looks like it might be dented........................ didn't see that before I bid. )

My favorite ever was my first year Dave Scott, when there was only one model. Shouldn't have sold it, but I needed money at the time.,,,,BD

Picked up a wheelset for the Diamondback. Mavic rims on Ultegra hubs, look very similar to the OEM wheels that came on the Interval.

Thanks, the wheels were probably a better bargain than the frame but I'm pleased with both. I was a little bummed about the ding in the top tube but the more I look at it the more I think it adds "character". That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Just need a quill stem, seat post and some warmer weather to clean up the frame and put it all together. My wife has banned all bicycle assembly to the garage and it's about 8° Fahrenheit out there right now, not much fun when the tools freeze to your hands..

I did not save this. William Barrett (eBay - reperagevelo) in Grenoble, FR did:
Routens 700c Frame Fork 55cm x 55cm 120mm Old 1970's Used | eBay
Not your everyday "bike at the dump". From William's post to CR:

I kid you not. I found this Routens in the metal recycling pile at Reperages. At first all I noticed were the Mafac Competition engraved brakes because there were other bikes on top of it.

My Diamondback came today and there is NOT a dent in the top tube it was just a smudge.
Just came in from looking it over again, it's in much better shape than the pictures showed, a good detailing and some minimal touchup of some small scrapes and it is going to look great. Can't wait for it to warm up out in the garage so I can get started on this one!
Just found this, I'm 99% certain this is the frame I just bought.

The only bikes I ever find in scrap metal piles are gas pipe BSO's....... I'm happy about that on one hand, maybe that means people around here are a little more bike savvy. Then again it may just mean somebody is beating me to the good stuff.

1967 Dunelt Skyliner 3 Speed.
Not quite free, but almost.. Purchased in Hamilton , Ontario last year for $50.00.
The very next day the seller posted another ad looking to buy a kickstand and fenders so I sold the parts back to him for $15.00. So now I've only paid $35.00 for the bike and it has a Dynohub as well as the pump clamps.
Cleaned it up and made a few modifications. I had an NOS Wrights leather saddle in the garage, new pads and chain as well as a pair of new block pedals from Hoop Driver Bicycles here in Toronto.
An earlier incarnation with flipped bars, and a composite saddle.
The mini fenders were a gift from a friend and I re routed the gear cable through a stop and pulley that I also had in the garage. The pump was a gift from Len at Mr. Used in Hamilton.
The final version below. The straighter bars are helpful in making this a good city bike and "curb-hopper" as you can get a bit more leverage to pop the front end.

I took a chance on this little bike and I'm very happy with it. The seller put up an ad with multiple bikes, asking for $50 each, I spied the Turbo saddle and figured that it might be worth a look and it turned out to be a Nasbar Race Tange 2 frameset with a Shimano 600 group.
The frame has some nice little details like wrap around seat stays and Shimano drops and fork ends plus the stem is a Nitto pearl as are the handlebars. It had been sitting for ages and has a layer of dust that has seemingly ptotected the paint as it is pristine in the few spots that I cleaned and, thanfully, everything was properly greased so the seatpost and other components move freely from out of the frame. Once cleaned up it will make a nice sport tourer for my girlfriend, replacing the Fuji Ace that she finds a bit heavy.

1987 Cannondale SM800 for $60 from a trade place selling BSO's for $100. Most of the parts are pretty beat up and the original wheels were changed from QR to bolts for some reason, but the frame itself seems to have only minor scrapes and some scuffing where there was a kickstand. I've always wanted a Cannondale MTB, a bike with rollercams, and I don't want to ship any more bikes across country. Also, it is 5 speed indexing. Weird.
