I still use my first pair of LG road shoes I bought with my first road bike in 2012. My Bontrager mountain bike shoes I've been using since 2016. A couple years ago I found an additional set of Shimano high-top MTB shoes at Goodwill.
I don't particularly like any of them, but don't hate them either.
The road shoes will likely be phased out after my eventual plan to convert most of my bikes to SPD.

So long as it's quieter than what I've got now I'll be happy.
I've cobbled together a cassette and chain of unknown mileage with a derailleur from the mid-80s. It's noisy enough that I would be embarrassed to ride with anyone else.
Weight I really didn't care about, but what I really wanted was a 12-28 cluster since I spend all of my time in the big* ring and middle of the cassette. I only found that with the PG1070. So since I got a SRAM cassette I figured it would be best to go with a SRAM chain as well.

As I think about it, if anyone started to get fussed that I was habitually late, I’d just declare my new start time to be 8:15. Haha I could tell me boss it was 8:15 all along and he’d be a little confused but in the end just think he had it wrong in his head.

I'm running a Sram Force cassette on a Shimano/DTSwiss freehub with my Campagnolo Record shifters and RD. 'Cause 11 speed don't care.

Hmmmm. Okay. It's a long bench, 8', and I've got about 40" height to work with, so lots of real estate. Maybe something like that in the middle (I don't have too many small tools) and some kind of tills for hand saws/planes on either side... Then again, this is going to be where I'm using a bench-top drill press and router table, so maybe I want to keep the first 24" or so of airspace relatively open along the entire length.

There are diesels that smoke whenever accelerated because there is something wrong, like leaking injectors, etc., and there are diesels that smoke because the driver has performed a modification to cause it to smoke on demand, such as causing the turbo to overboost. Imagine the thinking of a person who would do this.

Yesterday, I did 3 x 10@ 110%. Boo yah, that was hard but the whole time I knew I was gonna get it done.
Today was “easier” or so I thought. 1 x 20@ 105% but right when I got started my quads were like WTF, no. It was a struggle at first but in the end I got it done. For me, threshold efforts frequently get easier around 5-7 min in, I assume some kind of lactate processing metabolic system kicks in for me around that time.
Anyway it was funny- first the shock, then despair, then hope, then accomplishment. A microcosm of life, all in a single 20 min interval, lol.

I would have had the diesel guys on his can in a second, had I been able to see a plate number.

If they do modifications to intentionally cause the smoke they can turn it on or off, depending on when they want to assault someone. Modern diesels don't smoke at all, unless something is wrong or some sadistic bastard has modified things.

Oh, I know about these coal-rollin' jackholes. Don't see them too much in MN, fortunately.

I have defaulted to just doing all trainer workouts on the TT bike, that just seems so normal to me now. They’re usually pretty short, in the 60-90 min range.

Yep. Once can see a short lifetime in a 20 minute graphical representation of bicycle metrics.

State of the shop: boring but helpful ultility bench almost done but I'm undecided on the back. I've got a frame extending to the first floor joists, but don't know what I want to put on there. Pegboard to hang tools? Slat board for lightweight shelving? Just some plywood so that I can hang whatever I want off of it (maybe some French cleats?)
I should prolly do some image searches for inspiration.
