Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So the first Shingles vaccine was called "Zostavax" and pushed by Merck. It was only 50% effective and LESS effective in the elderly population. I was/am not a fan, in part because they marketed to patients using scare tactics. Sad.

The new one is "Shingrix" by GSK, it is a 2-shot series but it's 95% effective. I do recommend it for everyone 50+. It's very effective even for the elderly. And so far, no scare tactics selling it, it sells itself because it's THAT good.

Must hide this post from Mrs BD, she’s an anti-vaccer, don’t want to get her started. Not the kid stuff, the adult stuff, like flu, pneumonia, etc.

My wife had it bad with the first and a little better on the second but was still rundown for a day or so. In my case, however, I just felt a little tired for a day or so and that was about it. YMMV

Well it is good to know the reaction is rare. I would hate for it to happen often.

I bought an auto battery booster charger for getting out of the house to the dealership in a pinch and for taking on road trips. Haven’t used it yet, but it is supposed to pack a wallop. We have road service included in our lease, but I just get antsy waiting for them. Two cars with one battery failing every two years or so, that’s a failure on average every year. I hope this booster works.

The Saturn's battery is very reliable, but if it dies one can just roll it and pop the clutch.

That is sad. Cheating is stupid, but no point in killing yourself. Just say sorry and move on. Sad.
