Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Electrical chest strap monitors are good if you need precise interval data for some reason, e.g., HRV, but they otherwise obsolete, awkward, uncomfortable, and give many people (me) dermatitis. For HR, optical is ideal and it’s what I use on the bike.

I believe that it was Voltaire who said, "ideal is the enemy of good, for those with analysis paralysis."

I think that every retailer and manufacturer, that I've ever given my email address, has sent me an email this morning.

I have the Rhythm24 because it has recording capability and I intended to use it at the gym as a freestanding device. However, there are many other highly respectable brands, e,g., Wahoo and Polar.

I can attest that Ohio is dumb having lived there for about 14 years in 2 different stints.

We did have some eye watering descents! That's where a big mountain bike is an advantage.

Went out for a ride in the wet on the MUP. We have some homemade brownies that I packed for the rest stop. I was really getting hungry by mile 40 and stopped at a water fountain in Valley Forge to get water and fuel up.

Of course, the Turkey of the day was me as I left the brownies at home. It was still a fine ride, for which I am thankful. But I did miss the brownies.

Anyone have any experience with Whoop and would like to share thoughts about it? I am thinking it could help with overall health data like restful sleep and catch heart irregularities since it is worn 24/7/365

The phone app? Dunno, but I’ve used it with the Yahoo workout app, Zwift, ROUVY, and my bike computer, all of which upload to Strava.

Youll have to record on a computer anyway to get the readout.

Haven’t run in 50 years. Unless someone was chasing me. Not going to start now.
