Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My R3 was a little twitchy for me the first few rides, and I told myself that I wasn't sprinting on it for a little while. Of course, on a group ride last week, I saw one of the guys go for a sign, the first of the year, and I completely forgot about any reservations and I followed. Now that I'm (mostly) used to it, I like it, too.

I've been enjoying barley lately. I like to cook it in the same pot with lentils. I was reading up on it today, and the article mentioned the copper in barley is good against RA. Has the witch doctor mentioned this?

Speaking of whisky, I'm liking the Hibiki. I made the mistake of having it on the rocks (well, rock, singular) the first time. Much better neat. I have a feeling that the first half of the bottle is going to go fairly quickly and then I'll be more conservative with it. Maybe I'll drag it out 'til the fall and buy myself another bottle of something decent for my bday.

Hey Bah Humbug how does a group Triathlon bike training ride work? I am interested to hear because I want to ensure we all keep a safe distance on our group ride tomorrow. I am thinking to tell each cyclist to allow say 35-50 feet between them and the rider in front of them, which is enough to be in eye-shot and ear-shot, but far enough that it's safe and for cars to pass.

I am open to other suggestions. I am expecting a small group of say 6-10 riders BTW. I do NOT want us to all ride in one tight group for obvious reasons.

A couple of the stocks on my watchlist went up for the second day in a row. The bulk of them, however, continued the slide. I have only $14 in the market at present, but I still like to see what it's doing. Possibly so I can gloat about being one of the first wave of panic sellers.

That too, so the isopropyl bath probably wasn't necessary.

Wife and I went for a walk yesterday afternoon and she was like, "Can't they walk on their own side of the street?"

The R3s do a lot of things right - responsive, light, stiff, and comfortable. You can't get all of those on most bikes and you certainly can't get one at Excel pricing. The R3SL was a closeout from R&A and I got the frameset for a smoking deal. I still have the original 3T fork, which is nice, but was a little porky.

I'm almost crash replaced the R3SL but Cervelo customer service basically told me not to. The R3SL is mechanical now with the 50mm Powertap psimets. I love it. Can't beat this sticker.

Hey seeds - look, an old carbon bike. Faster, lighter, funner, stiffer, more responsive, and more comfy than your old man bikes.
