Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Can you give a little more info on the in-line connectors (brand / part # / source)? How difficult is the installation? (I have no experience with hydraulic disc brakes, so sorry for the noob questions.) I haven't seen anything like those before (and I just tried Googling). I have an S&S coupled bike but have stayed with cable-actuated disc brakes thus far to accommodate cable splitters. These may open up more possibilities.

Thanks,
Mike

You won't ever change the brake lines, so to me, the far more likely use of that inline connector is changing the bars. Probably for competitors, particularly pros, it would be between standard and aero bars.

But for a normal dude it still will be handy so that you don't have to bleed the brakes if you change handlebars. You might indeed do that after a few months' riding.

I was surprised to find them on the Motobecane build. I don't know if they are typical part for a Shimano road build but as you say, they make a lot of sense. It is a Shimano part and I found it on a hose kit (pre-installed inline (0-degree) fitting and replaceable inline fitting kit) sold online but I haven't looked to see if it might be sold separately.

You could definitely decouple and couple the lines for disassembly but it would also require a complete bleeding of the system. I decoupled the front to snake the hose internally through the fork and it wasn't a huge ordeal. It definitely helped that I had some experience doing car and motorcycle brakes. I also bought the Shimano bleed kit which is a very expensive collection of plastic!

Thanks for all the compliments! I am enjoying the bike immensely and will put together something of a ride report next.

I'm building a Litespeed gravel road bike. But its a 1994 Ocoee platform. Very different.

The T5 looks great.

Any issues with the crown race?

Hey Cale -

I just got my hands on one of these as well due to a good sale.

I was wondering if there was any problem matching the fork's built in crown race with your chosen headset. I've never run into this before.

Also - which headset did you select for your build?
