Like the other guy said, a lot of MTB folks are on other forums. But, being in the older crowd myself, I do NOT like the MTBR forum. I think it is poorly moderated and has some folks that are truly rude.
I wish this section got some more action.

there are a few chumps at MTBR, for sure.
but it got a hell of a lot better after they stopped the anonymous negative rep, and got rid of a few moderators who were mean to noobs. If you google for any random technical thing about MTB components, tuning, or repair, you'll find some relevant results on MTBR. there is enough discussion there that repetition and separating the wheat from the chaff are the main problems, IMHO.

66, Born2BAHick, Cryptid01 and a whole bunch defected to FB. When I got stripped of my moderator mantle (thus taking away my ability to consolidate extraneous BS threads, muffle the idiots and generally keep order), I gave up on it too and joined them. I think we all got tired of beating our heads against the wall.
Other than maybe RideMonkey, this is still a FAR and away the better forum than MTBR, PinkBike and that lot. It is too bad that it is being overrun with the clueless dispensing advice to newbs, retro-grouches and posts that really belong in commuting. It was a cool neighborhood for a number of years.
Did they ever make you a mod, Colin? If not, shame on them. I see little evidence of regular mod activity here, other than mods from 'those other' forums. The place really needs a regular, engaged 'resident' moderator.
A BF haiku...
Blind leading the blind
Frustration builds, many jump ship
The emptiness moans.

Nah, Doug, I never have been approached to ask to moderate here or anywhere else. I would decline.
I've been active on various forums and I come and go, but I've never wanted to moderate. What a thankless job. One that you nobly performed for a good while there. So, thank you.

Hard to believe you got stripped of moderatorship, Doug. Well..maybe not so much in this age of mandatory political correctness & a ban on hurt feelings. But I thought you did a good job. I figured things must've got south since the last time I stopped by when I saw you & Ed were no longer mods, little to no trace of activity from you guys, Criptid01, Born2BAHick, & the like, & no regular posts on anything other than "which bike I should buys?" threads, etc. This definitely used to be a fun place to waste time.

And sometimes the help at the rest home restricts out online activities.
