Cervelo deal for buying two bikes

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I bought it 4 weeks ago, so it doesn't qualify. Damn. I wouldn't have had a problem finding someone else to buy an S2 with a $1,000 discount.

I will be buying an S5 VWD frameset but firm delivery hasn't been announced yet. Their fine print says must be ordered, paid, and received by 1/31 for "models currently available from Cervélo before January 31, 2012.". I sure hope if they don't deliver by the 31st, I don't lose my discount.

With that discount, it will still be cheaper to pull the groupo off and sell it on ebay than it will be buying the frameset alone.

I am, and I liked them. But they're more than I wanted to spend ... and I don't think they're as fast as other wheels, based on three extended test rides.

Two S2s!

Is the P5 being released to the public on January 18th for sale or just being revealed? I don't want to tell the LBS to order a 51cm P3 if I can get a P5 for $3,000ish (if the rumors of it being $4,000ish are true).

You won't be able to get a P5 with this deal.

Seriously folks-- both bikes paid in full and received by 1/31/12. No way you will get a P5 in your hands by then. Impossible.

Anybody interested in doing this in northern NJ, PM me. Either Piermont, Ridgewood, or Strictly Bikes.

It looks like Piermont has what I was looking for in stock.

I certainly don't know any business details, but do have to wonder if inventory reduction is a part of the PON's purchase of Cervelo.

By received, they mean payment received. They can't collect a bunch of orders and hold them til after the discount is up. They would be stuck with a CRAPLOAD of bikes that people will not be paying full price for. Plus, they would have an incredibly hard time keeping their reputation in tact with silly business moves like that. It's WAY easier to cancel a credit card payment than it would be to unload all of the excess bikes.

I am not so sure about that. They are trying to clear inventory, so I would think the bike has to at least be in a warehouse by 1/31.
