One of the mechanics at LBS is selling a set of Zipp 303 tubulars. They come with GP4000s and latex tubes, ready to go. They're pre-Firecrest, with low mileage ... I put about 100 of their miles on them myself, and liked them.
He wants $1,800.
My gut tells me that's a bit pricey for (lightly) used wheels, but I'd like a second opinion. And I'd rather spend less on a wheel set, but, if I'm wrong and this is a good deal, I might go for it.

less than $2664 for a set from PBK if you use coupons.
303 are tubulars
404 are clinchers

Thanks. (I guess it'd be pointless to say that's what I thought.)

Ah...you mean the tubular tires have latex tubes. Gotcha.
I think it's a pretty good deal. You get the tires glued on already at a nice discount. I mean what's the difference between wheels used for 50miles and a brand new set, really? Well maybe warranty issues...

gearwest bike has 303s for less, brand new. Not affiliated, used to live near them. They have some of the best Zipp closeouts of any shop I know of.

Pre-firecrest will go for $1400 soon. Zipp is getting rid of them. Colorado Cyclist already sold them cheap for one day. Hold off and buy a new set cheaper or tell your LBS mechanic you'll give him $1500 now

If he got them through an employee purchase...he's making out big time.
Plus with the new Firecrest model out...these will not hold their value that well. 1500 seems reasonable.

How much are the tires, tubes, and the fact that LBS dude's are already glued on worth? I'm not being snarky, but I've never owned tubulars before, so I don't know.
Also, I'm not dead set on Zipps. Out of their line, 303 is the wheel that makes the most sense to me, but there are some cheaper CF tubies out there, and I'm not doing time trials.
Thanks, everyone!

IIRC, Continental doesn't sell tubulars to the public with latex tubes. They get butyl. They give special ones to the pros with latex.

You've got a serious jonesing for tubulars, eh...
This seems offensively, blatantly overpriced.
