Peugeot PFN10 year confused
From what little I know from the serial number info I'd guess '83 but '81 seems more likely with the painted fork and chrome socks. I'm pretty sure it's a PFN10 though. The front rim is Mavic, the rear is an Araya with a 105 hub and an obvious replacement. Too bad it's gold. It's the nicest Pug I've ever owned and I'm hoping it's not too small for me. It's was listed for $75 so I cancelled everything to drive out and snatch it.

That's an odd BB stamping. Haven't seen it before. Decal set ended for the most part in 81, so 80 or 81 PFN10 is probably where it's at based on the Vitus tubing and how it's equipped.
I take it the white chainstay sticker is gone? The front hub should have a 2-digit date, as should the seat post and stem, if original. You should grease both ASAP anyway, why not pull out and examine?

as recalled, the PFN10 model launched in '78 (going from "memory" only)
its model 104 chainset launched in '77
certainly does not appear it could be so late as '83

Thanks guys. Yeah, I got it pegged as a '81. The '80 had different tubing. It's totally broken down to the bare frame now and the paint is remarkably good. Even the saddle is original. It came apart without difficulty with standard tools except for the Maillard freewheel. I think it's going back together as is. I'm not terribly excited about the plastic wing nuts on the shift levers but everything seems to be solid. Not sure about that gold rear rim though.

If I may be so bold, the frame number stamping is B0120522. The front of the first two characters was not struck into the frame.
A frame date of 1980 December.

Just a FYI: learn to like the shift levers plastic wing nuts because the drilling in the braze-ons is M5 x 1 which is an obsolete standard compared to the M5 x .8 which everyone else uses. You can replace it with a non-metric 10-24, 15/16ths allen headed bolt. The fit is slightly off but doable and you may want to use a removeable liquid thread lock to be really sure if you opt for that choice.

I know what the 1980-1981 PFN10 stamping should look like, so it was not difficult to see what was wrong with the stamping.
If you do not know what the stamping is supposed to look like, how do you know if it is right or incorrect in some way?

Did you happen to try taking out the bottom bracket drive-side cup? From your serial number pic, it looks to be the same type of BB.
I have the same model, likely from almost the same timeframe (the serial number begins B011), and I've been having an incredibly difficult time figuring out which way it's threaded (it really stuck in, which makes it hard to know if the problem is from turning the wrong way or not).
I'm 99% sure its not English threaded, which I believe leaves only French and Swiss, but I can't seem to figure out any more than that. FWIW, the fixed cup has one ring, and two flats that measure 36mm apart.

I have an ‘83 PFN10 and the decals are much more in line with the ‘80’s styling to come.
