Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Late last June I did a long day's ride in Cozumel on a bright blue sky with the sun "science fiction movie" bright. It set my usually bicycle tan so well, that it lasted through this winter, especially on my right thigh. (rode south in late AM, and north in early PM). Being a northerner who rarely goes south in the summer, I forgot that at 20° latitude, high noon really is high noon.

Meanwhile I spent the weeks immediately following doing a fair amount of diving and had to deal with the "what happened to you" questions from everybody.

I have noticed that both my arms and legs are nearly browned, even with using some sun screen. The spring sun has been pretty much a straight, clear shot at us, thankfully. Wear it proudly!!!

Remember when the hands were tanned in a cross-hatch pattern and the little circle of full tan in the middle?

Does shaving your arms make you faster?

OK, just kidding....that's a good start prior to summer.

I need to settle on one jersey I guess. I have a series of varying tan lines on my upper arms from wearing jerseys with shorter and longer sleeves.

One summer my son had stripes like that on his legs. You only noticed it when he was wearing his "tri" shorts, which were the shortest of his bike shorts.

Yesterday was the first day the sun and the ride came together to produce the beginning of a summer tan which was noticed this morning, which for mysterious reasons seem to continue reddening through the night time hours. So in addition to maintaining the chain well lubed, the tires pumped up and many other chores relating to summer riding, I now must remember to also maintain sharp tan lines to mark my membership in the tribe of cyclists.
