Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It says 115-125 on mine. I'm 200 lbs. How many PSI do you use for a fast ride?

My vredstein's say 175 (!) I usually go 150 in the rear, 140 in the front. 200lb you probably wanna go to 125. Don't wanna pinch flat...

I don't think I have the strength in my body to pump mine to the max... plus that just seems rediculously high... I mean 175psi.. is crazy. Plus it will probably ride like hell.

Start out at 110, it works - go from there. Too soft = pinch flats & too hard = blowouts.

To everyone who is pumping up to really high pressures on their clinchers (> 150PSI), you might want to check your rim rating. My rims (Mavic Ksyrium) state 140PSI as max pressure. I think I might be able to safely go to 150PSI or possibly even 160PSI. I'm running Continental GP3000s which are max-rated at 120PSI although I know with most tyres, you can usually exceed that by a bit. I have run them as high as 130PSI. I'm typically running them at 125PSI.

My prob is when the tires say max 175....are they safe to run at like 120? I should've bought different tires..

In 20 years I've never pinch flatted a road tire, and I bunnyhop little divots and irregularities.

I weight 200 and rarely go over 110psi.

Before anyone pumps their tires to the max 175# with their new Vsteins, make sure your rims are rated as high as your tires. For instance, on my Campy Eurus, the max pressure for a 23c tire is 113#.

Edit: khuon beat me to it. Thanks khuon.

100 front, 110 rear. and i'm 240 pounds at the moment. used to pump them about 10-15 lbs higher, but they don't ride as smoothly at higher pressures.

Bontrager Race X Lite Tires (700 x 23c) on DT Swiss RR1.1 rims laced to Campagnolo Record hubs, 3-cross 14/15g DT Comp spokes ...

120 psi both front and rear. Top off before each ride.

I weigh 90 kg.

I'm looking into some higher pressure-rated tires ... anyone try the Tufo Clincher-Tubulars ... maybe I'll make a new forum or search ....

bontrager select B's on a Bontrager select wheel (training tires) i fill to 98 or 100. it says 100. depends on how hot it is outside.

race wheels are Zipp on Zipp 404's...i fill those to anywhere from 100 - 140. depends on weather. i am a 172 lb rider...trying to get down to 160-165.

Max, maybe 5 lbs. less. That's 110-115 for my Michelins.
I'm also 200 lbs., works for me.
