Retired
I worked my final shift today and am now officially retired. It was raining at 4:30AM when I had to leave for work, but I refused to let that spoil my day and rode my bike to work.
What was supposed to be an 8-hour shift turned out to be just a few minutes shy of a 13-hour shift. I guess they didn't want me to leave!
But I didn't gripe, knowing that this was the last time they would/could demand this of me. Rode home with a tailwind and arrived before the next round of severe storms rolled in…

So there you go. From now on every day is Saturday except when they deliver the big newspaper - that's Sunday.

When will you be moving south — out of the snow-belt?

Thank you; I shall!
Well, our house is paid for, which is a strong incentive to stay put. And if we do move, I suspect it will be West (Oregon/Washington/British Columbia) rather than South. I was born in Washington and our son works for UW in Seattle, so it would be nice to be closer. And the PNW climate and scenery is quite agreeable.

Time to begin planning the "bucket list" of ride. Congratulations!

Interesting that you say the " PNW climate ... is quite agreeable". We are thinking of retiring in a few years and have been looking at many places. I am from the east coast, but one of my daughters thinks she will end up in Seattle. I've only been there in May and find it very nice, but I hear the climate is very raining and the days are short for a good part of the year. So how do you find the winters?

Congrats. Now you get to decide what you do with the rest of your life. They say should be as busy in retirement as working, just doing something different. Plus chance to surround your self with nice people.
