Uh Oh! I bought a fat bike!
So I'm a roadie, right? Miles on the road is what I'm all about. Never had the slightest interest in Mountain biking. But 6 months or so ago I was watching some guy having a blast on the beach in the snow on a fat bike. My interest was piqued, and I did some research...long story short, I just bought a fat bike! I've also convinced my girlfriend to get one for herself and the boys so we can ride together. She's too nervous a person to ride on the road, and thinks mountain bikes are "too dangerous". I convinced her that fat bikes are slower, and therefore safer...
Now, for the most part, I only wanted a fat bike for winter, and to take the occasional ramble on the beach, but I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, it will get more use than that.
I pick it up tomorrow!

Check out Old Man, Fat Bike on YouTube. It's a hoot. Kinda makes me want one.
His first video is mostly doing wheelies on flat gravel, but he quickly begins to develop his own style and branding, including some funny intros and blooper reels.

I got a Scott Big Jon. I was researching fat bikes, and was thinking I'd go the BD route, but then I read about the Big Jon, and it seemed like the best bang for the buck for something I could find in a store, and also got really good reviews for handling. Scott has sold out the model year in mediums, so I was despairing Of finding one at all. Then I saw new one on eBay for $600 under list and it turned out the store selling it was pretty local to me, so I saved on shipping and tax, too! I'm going good to go pick it up today, and I can't wait!
The GF and boys are going to get BD fat bikes.

I got a Framed Minnesota Fat bike in Feb. Although I prefer road at my age I have a blast on the fat bike in the snow, on the trails and my favorite on the beach. yes I know the salt will eat it up on the beach but I rinse it well and am used to dealing with corrosion from the salt. My wife thought I was a complete idiot until.........she rode it. Says it reminds her of the big old Cutlass I used to drive just plods smoothly along.
All it does is put a big smile on my face as its just plane fun!

It was raining for most of the day, anyway, so I wasn't going to get any decent time on my bike. Perfect day to get a new bike set up!

I bought a fatbike last fall and rode it all winter. Rode on the beach until the snow came then road it on all the (now) snowmobile trails that used to be bike trails. Had a blast. Unexpected benefit was much improved conditioning when I got the road bike out in the spring.
