I decided to send an offer on this bike and it sold to me for $200 with shipping. It's a C-dale with Shimano 105 components, and it should fit me. What are your thoughts? Did I do well?

I like it, and the price shipped seems pretty damn good to me. I think the colour was "blueberry"? If it were mine, I'd get a new fork and a modern component group & new wheelset, replace everything and enjoy it!

If you sent the buyer an offer and he accepted, it is binding. It doesn't matter if you did well, its yours. If he is shipping to you for $200, it is an okay purchase, but I would have preferred an OEM fork for the $$$ spent.

I like the color, and the frame looks to be in good shape. I don't know what's going on with that fork. I'd lose the Tri bar extensions and see if all the components can be cleaned and lubed and made functional. Then ride it for a bit and see what you want to do, if anything, beyond that. If you keep that fork, sand it and spray it gloss black with appliance paint. Or get a CF fork. Assuming no big surprises when it arrives, it seems like a pretty good deal, though I agree with Oddjob2 that the fork is a wildcard in the deal.

When I find an old road bicycle with a non original fork, I spend extra time checking of the integrity of the frame set, just in case the fork was replaced as a result of a crash. If buying on-line, I would not even consider such a purchase, simply because I cannot properly inspect the frame for damage. As for the price...

Not too bad but, once again, a non original fork is a red flag. That said, I think the OP paid too much and is taking a chance in doing so. That said, I do wish him or her the best of luck with the purchase and hope that the bike proves road worthy and safe to ride.

What your going to do with? You didn't buy it to ride it? Personally I think it looks small for a 60/23. It also seems to need a lot of work. A complete overhaul and good waxing of the frame, cleaning everything and reinstalling it, new tires probably cables and bar tape.

Considering f what shipping can cost $200 probably isn't bad, but why does the listing say sold for 300?

Remember, those are oversized alloy tubes. My 58 cm CAAD 10 barely has room for a silver dollar where the top tube and down tube meet the head tube (with the welding, it's kind of a semi-circle there as opposed to the more squared-off shape you get with lugged steel in that area).

I am planning on riding it; I got it for $200 on a best offer, so it doesn't show up as selling for that much.

Get a carbon fork, I had a Cannondale with a cf fork and loved how it looked and rode.

Do you have the legs to standover that bike?

If the frame doesn't fit, it doesn't mater how much or how little you paid.

$200 shipped is a steal. Properly packing/packaging a bike by a bike store costs $50-$75 minimum, and shipping a bike 3000 miles is going to cost another $75-$100 minimum.

So you paid about $50 for the bike. That's a steal, even if it needs work.

The non-original fork bothers me, but for what you paid for the bike, you can afford to replace the fork when the bike arrives. As others have already mentioned, you should get the bike frame inspected by a professional to make sure that there aren't any crash related problems. Replacing the front fork is rare unless it was an upgrade (doesn't look like carbon to me) damaged in a crash.

I'm 5'11", so I think that it will be a good fit. As for inspection, I will work with my ex-bike mechanic friend to make this a great ride. Thank you for your input, I've appreciated all the responses!

I am 5'11" and a 58 CM could work. I prefer a 56 though.

A steal for this bike? I had a Connondale that was a Shimano 600, and was stone mint. In an area that bikes are usually easy to sell it took me a damn month+ to get $200. I paid fifty for it.

Anyway enjoy it.

Have never known ebay listings which ended in a Best Offer being taken to show anything other than "BEST OFFER ACCEPTED", without showing the price accepted.

In the last few months, I have both purchased a used frame, where my best offer was accepted, and sold an old frame, where I accepted a best offer. Both listings showed "BEST OFFER ACCEPTED".

Personally think it might be too large of a bike if youre 5'11 and this bike turns out to be a 60cm.

My initial thoughts on the purchase for 300 was not that great. For 200, sounds much better. I would tear the whole thing down, give the frame a nice wash, overhaul all the parts with new grease/cables/etc and ride it out.
