Help me choose my next road shoe

its time for everyones favorite kind of post , a help me decide one yeeeaaah

!!!!! SIZE 45 maybe 45.5 or 46 !!!!!!!

i have three main desires of a new road shoe for racing and long training rides !!!

1. stiff as can be but comfy for 5 to 8 hour rides if possible .( at least stiffer than basic pearl shoes)
2.no ratchet closers , mostly boas/dial or Velcros .
3 . be under or as close to 250 USD as possible .

oh 4 bonus , be a maxi or wide fit !!!!!!!

my list so far depends on the price i can get them for , maybe off season will be cheaper ???

mavic:
cosmic pro road shoe
cosmic ultimate ii wide ( cant find a 45

fizik

r5b uomo
r1b
powerstrap ( dont know if its stiff as i need buts it cool and affordable )

shimano

rc7
s phyre rc9

giro

( shrugs ) i got nothing seems like all the shoes at certain price points around 150 look the same one boa dial and a velcro )

Another one to check out: Diadora Vortex Pro. Double Boa closure and I find them comfortable on long rides.

Another option to consider: Bont. I'm a big fan. They are very stiff, but comfortable. They come in wide widths. I've had the Vaypors, and am currently wearing the Vaypor+. My wife wears the Riot. We are both very happy with them.

The Riot+ is below your price range (but still a nice shoe) and discounted 20% at their online store through the next week. Sizing for me is the same for my dress shoe. Check them out: LINK

Teva Universals. Forty bucks. Add SmartWool socks when it's cold out.

I recently saw some great close-out deals at Merlin Cycles on some Diadoras, with basic velcro closures (and come in way under your price range).
Diadoras have long been a favorite of mine, and they seem to have great reviews.
BTW, before stumbling on these Diadoras at Merlin, I'd picked up a set of lower-end Giros on sale at Nashbar, and I've been very happy with them, as well. I'd definitely consider Giros again.

Sidi also offers the Mega wider shoe range , in both walkabout MTB,
and take them off when not riding because they're hard to walk in, , Road versions..

And Rocket 7 a made 1 at a time custom fit.. made in Colorado, for many years..

Bont riot plus looks nice are they stiffer than pearl izumi basic shoes ?
they look like the best choice for now .
i just wonder if the wide option will be too wide , seems they are made wide .
my feet are not extra wide but i can wear an 11 normal ir a 10.5 wide in sneakers depending on fit, so if i cant try them on im just guessing .

To answer your questions, yes they are very stiff. Added benefit is they come in wide and they are heat moldable. I found they have more toe room width wise than most euro shoes.

I just picked up some Sidi Wire Push shoes on sale from Competitive Cyclist (I think it was one of those Tour de France daily deals) for $246... MSRP is 499.

250 isn't much of a shoe budget if you're talking about MSRP but you can find some freaking outstanding deals if you're patient. And don't mind last year's colors.

Thanks for the heads up.. impressive size and width choices at Bont's own site. Good to see lots of options that come in sizes over 48; I like Sidi, but as far as I can tell, they have just 1 model of road shoe that comes in any size larger than a 48.

Good thing the OP only needs 45 or 46 then.

Welcome to BF, where you should by now realize that OPs neither own all content, control any of the content, and do not dictate where threads will travel on their own steam.

Hopefully the new Boa closure mechanicals are more durable than the ones I have. Have required annual replacement since 2012. POS.

+1 for Shimano I have wide feet in similar size and their shoes fit me really well. Plus the S-Phyre shoes look really nice. I have the XC9s and they are excellent shoes

BOA has a lifetime warranty. Maybe reach out to them TiHab and see what they say. I have never had issues with mine and don't know that any of my friends have had issues either and I have only replaced one set of dials so far for a customer.

I recently purchased a new pair of Specialized Torch 2.0 shoes.

The deciding factor for me was that they have the widest and stickiest rubber heel I could find. They also have a rubber toe. I really liked everything about my previous road shoes... until I fell HARD walking down concrete steps! I'm not willing to risk falling like that again.

I was also impressed by the superior amount of reflective material on the "reflective" version of the 2.0. That's a big plus.

Here's a review, with photos etc.
