Both are great deals but that Sekine really rocks at $25 plus shipping. That has to be made of decent tubing. It looks a lot like my Sekine SHS 271 which is tange champion (likely no. 3 tubing). If Appleton were closer, I'd be sorely tempted to buy it.

I suspect you're right, but there's no tubing decal on the frame. It feels reasonably light, and I can include a Tange #3 tubing decal with the frame if you like.

One oddity about these old Sekines is that the BB is often 70 mm and British threaded. I believe some older European bikes (perhaps Belgian?) came this was as well. It's fixable but the buyer may need a 73 mm BB and spacers. My SHS 271 has a 70 mm BB.

Right you are. This frame is English thread with a 70mm shell. As you suggest, a 73mm cartridge and a couple spacers would be workable, but an easier solution might be to use a cup-and-cone bottom bracket instead of a cartridge, and use a spindle for a 70mm shell with English thread cups.

Seconded on the Sekine - I've been commuting on that same frame for the last 3 years, it's great. Originally came with 27 1-1/4 wheels, so if you run 700c with it you can clear 35c tires + fenders.

$25 for a wide tire chromo commuter is pretty solid. The only drawback is there's no cable guides on the frame (hint: run it fixed gear).

i don’t have it yet. Still in talks with the wife.

I do have a 21” 271 model so I know these are good frames. Just never liked the racy feel of the smaller frame. Been looking for the 56cm size. Not like I am lacking frames to build.
