Schwinn Mesa Runner

My nephews wanted a cruiser to use at a shore rental this summer. I picked up this Schwinn for them, since its the right size and it was inexpensive. From the headbadge, its a 1990. Shimano indexed rear derailleur. 2x5.

I already lubricated the bearings, and I'm working on the cables and general cleaning. New. more road-friendly tires will be added along with a rear rack.

Any other suggestions? Info? Seems like a nice solid ride.

Looks like you nailed it. That's a good beach bike and the tires have a center rib, so unless the sidewalls are toast, I would leave them on. A rack or basket or both will help. Edit - change the pedals to something accommodating bare feet.

Good thought on the pedals. But I think ther are flip-flop wearers. I'll have to check. Sadly, the sidewalls are toasty. Thanks!

I would go with flat pedals as well, it will get ridden more and make it much more multi-user friendly.
