You're in a Band or play an instrument, post a video.
I know there's at least a few musicians here so post a video of you or your band playing.
I was a full time musician at one time (that means practically everyday) playing in our family band my oldest son on guitar, my younger son on drums and me on bass.
Most utube videos of us were done with phones. I think this one was with a actual camera. Filmed about the time we weren't playing regularly.

I didn't know this existed until I found this a few months ago. Every year we do a show called "Spoof Fest;" the concept is you take a band, take their "schtick" and sorta try to make it sorta funny. The biggest thing to come of it is the "Beatallica" thing if you're familiar with that.
Back in 2011 some friends and I did Social Distortion- My friend Mat who was playing Mike Ness here passed away a few years after this, so when I did see it it was kinda emotional...
BTW- I'm playing the Les Paul Special on stage right.

I've never had an addiction, but I'm guessing that song hits the up, the down and the craving to do it again accurately.

I'm hoping there's no video evidence of me playing jam nights in the DFW area and Chicago. I was awful.
I was okay in someone's living room but usually got stage fright and fumble fingers in clubs. Surprised I didn't manage to strangle myself with my own spastic hands onstage.

I stayed pretty busy during most of the 90’s. Started out sitting in at blues jams, and then I started picking up paying gigs as a sideman blowin harp, and singing a bit here and there. I eventually formed a band of my own. A four piece in that classic Chicago blues style. We built up quite a following in the area and played about 4 nights a week for years. We stayed mostly local in Eugene, but managed a couple trips down to SF, many up to Portland, and one to Paris, France. After personal politics finally came to a boiling point, we disbanded in ‘98.
I got a few half ass projects up and running in the years that followed, but eventually became uninspired and quit playing all together around 2007 or so.
And then in 2016, out of nowhere, an old friend contacted me. He was part of the booking committee for the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland. He invited me to do a set during a harmonica showcase there. A house band was all set up, and all I’d have to was bring the songs. I did it, cold and rusty, but it went alright and I had a lot of fun. It didn’t kickstart any motivation to put a band back together. But what it did do was inspire me to take my guitar picking more seriously.
I’ve been woodshedding since, and have a mind to start playing out again. Solo.
Anyhow, that was all long enough ago, that we didn’t have video camera cell phones to document all the action with. We did record a lot of shows however, and we made one studio album. The drummer has some VHS quality filming with horrible audio of our last gig in ‘98 on his YouTube channel. The playing ok, but the sound quality is not something I’d want to subject folks to here.
I’ve got a couple videos on my Facebook of some guitar picking I’m doing these days, but I deleted the original files from my phone, and Facebook won’t let me download my own videos to share here lol. Perhaps I’ll get around to recording something new sometime soon, I’ve been meaning to anyway, and drop it here when I do.
Why not a few pics though, to honor the thread, and to give a nod to the good ol’ days...
Circa’95. Guitar player on the left is traveling & playing all over the world these days. I’m on the right, sitting on a ‘57 Fender Vibrolux I wish I had never sold.
February 1998. We played a two week stint in Paris at the Chesterfield. We were all set up for a tour of Moscow and Madrid which would have taken place the following month but the guitar player quit last minute and we had to cancel.
Somewhere, deep in a box, inside my brother’s garage are tapes of the entire Paris gig.

I've posted this one on some other thread in the past. WAAAAAY back in the '80s I played in several bands in Seattle, including the in-house band at KOMO-TV where I worked in the PR dept. The backstory on this particular video is the NFL had just made up a rule that penalized football teams if their fans were "too loud," making it difficult for visiting teams to call audibles on offense. The Kingdome, where the Seahawks played, was pretty freaking loud, so the home team racked up some penalties on this somewhat misguided rule. Oddly enough, the rule is still in the books, but it's never enforced anymore.
Some of the people in the video weren't actually in the band, they were just there to make a bigger lip-synch party. One of them is the guy swinging the sax around; that's John L Williams, the Seahawks' top running back at the time.
I'm the skinny protohipster in the chinstrap beard, on bass.

Reportedly, some are taking up an instrument during the S-I-P. Don't be shy let's see it.
I didn't come from a musical family, so didn't start playing til in my 30s. However my son's are Music Mutants (Not me) but none of us had a single lesson and there was no Utube. Reminds me of this.

This is a friends 14 year old son playing blues at the Maryland/West Virginia border (you'll need to wait a couple of minutes to really hear him play).

I play a mean remix. Does that count? I grew up around the radio biz and hung out in studios watching the engineers and production and editing end of things. Never did it professionally but have done a bunch of cutups and remixes, a la Brion Gysin, William S. Burroughs and Negativland. And musique concrete dabbling, using only found sounds as the basis for digitally morphing into sorta-musical instruments. This one from about 10 years ago is very definitely NSFW, or safe for anyone, anywhere, anytime.
I need to get back into that stuff. Last time I did it much was when I still used Macs for sound editing, and that was before the first iMac era. Amazing what those little machines could do with horsepower that wouldn't even make a proper smartphone nowadays.

Here's one a fan made using a song from one our CDs and a live show.
Incidentally, all videos of our band weren't recorded by us. They're phone recordings by someone then uploaded on Utube.

Can't find the video, but does playing bass drum in a pick up all class marching band at an all class reunion count?

Well, I’ve been taking weekly music lessons for just over a year and a half to learn how to: 1. Read music (Essential Elements for Strings), and 2. Play the violin. I’ve never played an instrument in my life, but have a good ear & have rhythm. It’s been a very humbling experience, to say the least. I won’t share a video. I will share that I’m on the final song in Suzuki Book 1 for Violin, called “Gavotte”.
you who have posted videos - it’s an inspiration! Thanks.

I dusted off my Gibson SG,which I’ve played maybe 4 times in the past 5 years, and over the past month been playing every day. I got a gadget to play the guitar through GarageBand on my Mac and I’ve had tons of fun! Recorded a song but not sure how to share it.
