Pain in top of both thighs?
I recently starting get pain in the tops of both my thighs. I have recently increased my riding. I have had pain in my IT bands before but never in the tops of my thighs. Is this due to riding strain? Anyone ever experience this?

Is your seat at the proper height for good leg extension? Painful quads often indicate that the saddle is too low.

You don't stubbornly refuse to shift to a lower gear when needed do you? My quads are the first thing to let me know that I'm putting out too much torque for too long.
But if you are having the issue even after you get off the bike and rest a minute or two then likely another reason.

sounds like you are not eating enough protein.
the muscles are not recovering.
you need protein for muscle recovery.
if your legs do not recover, they will be sore.
if you increase your miles without changing your daily intake, you will have a hard time developing additional muscle mass.
eat a couple of filet mignon's for hill pounding quadriceps.
or salmon.
or protein shakes.
or all of the above.

Nothing wrong with a little bit of DOMS.

Agree with #6 above, but you might try pickle juice too. If those don't work, develop an interval training program and increase your fitness (BTW, you'll really feel the burn if your training program is adequate).

Must be technique. Note that pedaling must be executed like climbing stairs, not like trying to kick a big spider on the wall. There's a big difference between the two and the latter will cause problems to your quads and knees and also make them look big and powerful.
OP could try raising his seat 1-1.5 cm and ride a bit, as has been mentioned.

I find that I cannot come up with any muscle memory for trying to kick a big spider on the wall.
I have kicked a small dog while on the bike, but I don't think it's the same.
Both of these would seemingly produce symptoms in one thigh, 'tho...

Honestly, I have no idea what pedaling with a kicking motion would look like.
Did the dog get a pain in the thigh?
