Are Goatheads a major problem in Quartzsite?

Probably going to head down that way for week or so. I'd like to take a Mt bike but if thorns are a major problem in that area, I'll just take the hiking shoes instead.

Thanks,

Was there in Jan '14, in and around Quartzite, and don't recall goatheads being a problem. We didn't ride bikes, but hiked throughout the area. Dust in everything was what I remember.

I know it's too late to help you out if you went, but... if you didn't go, no, Q-town doesn't have goatheads. Altho strangely, during the last week I was there I did actually find one in my front tire! I've wintered there for the past 4 years and one of the reasons I like the town is that it doesn't have goatheads. Or certainly not many of them. Thorns from bushes, yes, altho as long as you stick to the roads, sidewalks and commonly used dirt roads, you should be okay.
