Dahon 40th Anniversary
While Dr. Hon's work on a folding bicycle design dates to 1973 and his earliest folding bicycle patent was in 1975, many years of refinement and "shark tank" pitches followed. Marketing here with Jay Leno:
Dahon as a folding bicycle manufacturer was born on February 9, 1982. The tiny folder was an immediate hit and that first year the company made over 6000 bikes. Here is Dr. David Hon's brother Henry doing a quality spot-check on some first-year bikes:
Dr. Hon once said, "I do not apologize for offering some inexpensive models. I want to put the world on bikes." Twenty-two years ago the basic Boardwalk model debuted and it's been in the line-up ever since with continual upgrades and improvements. For a 40th Anniversary commemorative Dahon somewhat surprisingly chose this basic model:
Of course, it comes with a commemorative head badge:
Someone in the graphics department came up with a spiffy logo:
Thanks for the great bikes, Dr. H! Here's to you:

says Dahon EU:
As the 40th anniversary of DAHON, 2022 will be a very important year, with changes besides those mentioned above. We also plan to launch some exciting models for the global market, including the 40th-anniversary, limited edition, carbon-fiber folding bike, the 40th anniversary edition of the Mariner, for which DAHON will lower margins and MSRP, some competitive and purpose-designed bikes from the domestic China line, a minivelo bike (inspired by the DAHON Classic), a multi-age folding bike, and several electric bikes, including the Unio, Curl EI4 and an electric cargo tricycle.

Interesting. I wonder if the China market Boardwalk D5 I just posted about is coming here.

On the Dahon EU website
https://eu.dahon.com/
there's a nifty (if a bit buggy, at least on my computer) '3D Virtual Showroom'. There's a selection of bikes that barely overlap with the 40th Anni announcement, including the GB2 bike with 650B wheels and Lockjaw hinges, a wild magnesium sheet metal child's bike, some e-models and a Curl with Dahon's new safety disc brakes.
Which, if any, of these models might appear in any of the world's markets Dahon operates in, is unknown.
