Good source of 1/4" ball bearings for 1993 Raleigh mtbike
I picked up a new looking bike at Thrift store ..... but the rear wheel sounded like gravel and grit whenever it rolled. For the pittance I paid I figured I could fix it my self. I want to replace the bearings which are 1/4" in size. If I could replace the bearing cups I would and I might take some cups from some other junk yard bikes If I cannot identify and buy any.

Maybe...
Good chance neither will have enough for a full set (unless you're lucky!) and they'll be pricey.
I buy mine from McMaster-Carr, here's their page for close-tolerance stainless steel ball bearings, what I bought for my recent 'renovation' on my '72 MB GR:
50 pcs. for .32/ea. is pretty cheap; with the $10 I paid for UPS shipping each cost me $0.52.

I have an old Moulton Stowaway in which I replaced the bearings. I bought some ceramic bearings on Amazon, and so far they have held up well.

Have you cleaned and looked at the bearings? Bearings and races are pretty hard. They can pulverize sand and other stuff. So definitely clean and lube them.
