Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Myrtle Beach Cherry Grove Vacation (56K Killer)

Not the best pictures but I was riding pretty fast. Met a guy from Greensboro and we rode most everyday. Rose everyday at 5:50 am just to ride. Got many sunrises. These pictures are not breath taking or anything but I wanted to post them for you guys to see. I had 2 flats on Friday morning that killed 64 miles of my week. I ended up riding just under 100. Was nice to see the sunrise every morning.

The Wagon.....

My youngest and me, hated the pool and the sun, lets just ride the golf cart daddy!

The Pad !

Pretty neat sunrise..

The pier...

Was fun, hope you enjoyed.

That looks like a great time! Glad you had fun.

I like the wheel leaning on the car door in the first picture. In some way it gives it a cool affect, like its not able to be attached to the bike but still it gets in the message. If that makes any sense!

will do! Thats my best friends families condo.

How bout them potholes!?

I had a flat 11 minutes into my Friday ride, fixed it and rode 30 more minutes and had another. I was all outta tubes and run 11 miles on my Mavic's with a flat. Sucked bad.

Thanks for the memories. I haven't been to Cherry Grove since 1986 and I am surprised to see it hasn't changed too much and HUgo didn't wreck it too bad. The high rises are a disappointment.

I haven't been to Cherry Grove since 1968. I have some fond memories though. I also hate to see so many high rise hotels/apartments/condos going up but, the economy is booming and its like this all over the East coast - especially in Florida where these construction cranes have been on allocation lately due to the demand.

Great pictures and I am glad you had a good time. Flat road riding can be very nice at times. Speed and distance are so much easier.

You might take a look at Sunset Beach for a future trip. Some really nice loops out of there as well. I've done a couple centuries up to Oak Island from there. The beach is super as well. If you golf there are some super courses up that way as well.

Nice.....we went down to Myrtle Beach the end of last December/early January and had a blast down there. Going back down again the same time this year. Need to figure out a way to bring the bike down, as there's not much room to do so. Kinda windy down there as well.....

I went to Myrtle Beach for the first time last year. Was a good time. I Didn't read the title, and was looking at the pictures like "that looks familiar...". Looks like you had really nice weather. When we were there, we had a possible hurricane coming...

Haven't been to Myrtle since last year, but they're always building something. Haven't rode down there, lots of traffic?
