Finally..my new toy.
I just picked up my Synapse today and did a little riding. It sure is different than my Specialized MTB. Lots of go fast fun though. I can tell that I'm going to have to get some of those silly lookin shorts though. Maybe some padded baggies. Ideas?

I like the matte finish on that Synapse and the fact there a fewer Cannodale stickers than usual. Great bike, your going to enjoy it a lot. And, do get proper road cycling shorts!

You're going to love your Cannondale, and DO get some lycra shorts, they're the best, but beware, hairy legs don't go well with them. Baggy shorts are for old men with no muscles

Thanks Guys..
Thanks for the replies! I may just have to drop my pride and get some of those shorts. I just got back in from a 45 minute ride and my butt is sore. I did get a couple of compliments on the bike though..I'm in South Texas; I wonder if they would have thrown rocks at me if I woulda been wearing skin tight shorts? They just don't go with a cowboy hat JP

Synapse is a good bike. Extremely stable geometry. Very stable in high speed turns. Sucks a bit of your power in a sprint, but if you're not going to race it is a great all day comfortable bike to log a lot of miles on. I'm not sure, but I THINK Giant makes this bike for for Cannondale.

Nice bike!
Oh, do yourself a favor and just get the regular lycra shorts. If you're feeling modest, you can wear some looser-fitting shorts over the top of them for awhile. After awhile you'll realize that they're purely function, and not give a rat's arse about what people who've never really ridden a bike think about them. The last thing you want, ultimately, is shorts flapping around when you're trying to ride.

I ride in Fox baggies with the built in strech liner and chamois. Even though my rides are short (25 miles), the outer short rides up sometimes and binds up around the hip joint/thighs.
I tried on a pair of Pearl Izumi lycras and they were comfortable as God intended man to be on a bike. But, I just can't imagine wearing a pair outside the dressing room. And they did indeed look awefully ridiculous with my hairy legs.
It's not like a live in podunk Alabama. Lycra-clad roadies are abundant in my area. I just can't seem to get over the initial barrier. Funny thing is that I regularly walk down the street barefoot wearing a neoprene wetsuits which is really not that much different than lycra.

Or pimply 17 year olds that are a bit coy.
Lycra shorts are the only ways to go- Or bibs if you want comfort. Just don't get red.
