Ouch!

Any cures? I use Assos chamois cream and as long as I use it, I never get them. I was without it for a few rides and have developed a terrible saddle sore.

Help please! As many of you know, it is very painful and any help you could give would be appreciated.

Resting is your best bet. You can try soaking in warm salty water. You can try putting something like Bag Balm on it overnight. I've had mixed results with those methods.

Just make sure it is 100% gone before you start riding on it again, or it will come back.

I've used ichthamol ointment as well. But the best way is to address the problem before it starts. And chamois cream shouldn't be the first line of defense. In my experience, chamois cream was just letting me get away with a poor position on the bike. YMMV, of course, but it's something to think about.

soaking in warm salty water is best, but I sometimes use pimple cream

I had one that turned worse after adding another 50 miles of very uncomfortable riding. I needed antibiotics which doctor prescribed. It was internal and not a simple pimple.

Lance it and then coat it with Neosporin.

Get a doctor to lance it, if it's not done properly, it could lead to a nasty infection spread.

Always wear some type of chamois butter, always wear clean shorts (washed after every ride, in soap).

it's obviously prudent to get to the doctor, but I'm tellin' ya, very warm, very salty water can work wonders, even for deepr ones. I once had a deep lumpy one the size of half a golf ball, and the salt cleared it up in a few days.

Basically, if you do any of the simple things (warm baths, etc.) and it gets worse rather than better, see a doctor. If there's an abscess that's inadequately drained, bad things can happen. Not worth losing the boys over.

Silvadene 1% cream is best. I use it on burn patients, also has an antibacterial effect.

But seriously, a saturated solution of epsom salts in very warm water sopped up in a washcloth and applied til the cloth cools, then repeated for up to a half hour several times a day will kill this thing.

Sounds like you need a better saddle. I only need chamois cream on rides longer than 4 hours.

In 18 years of cycling I've had my share of saddle sores. I've never lanced them before, until the one I got last week. I was using anit-biotic cream on it and cortizone, it's now turned into an open sore and is keeping me off the bike. I'll never lance one again.

+1!!! This method worked wonders for me!!! I have also gotten in the habbit of washing "that area" after every ride with Betadine skin cleanser.

How does saddle sore correlate with an abscess? Is the OP running a fever? I don't see any indication in the OP's words to suggest that there's an abscess just yet. An ulcer, a blister maybe, but an abscess that requires lancing?

Surface treatment with soothing/antibacterial ointment sounds appropriate to me at this point.
