Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some times....helmets make no sense!!!

I am a huge hemet advocate but sometimes, it seems like an exercise in futility

If you fall to the right, the helmet is now wearing you for protection.

Balls of steel. I'm not usually scared of heights, but just looking at those pictures makes me a little nervous.

I don't know.... that's water down there, and styrofoam floats. It might make body retrieval easier.

I've also found that helmets are worthless when gathering berries.

If you tape the air holes shut, your helmet can carry lots of berries...

Awesome...! Man there are some people that can really handle a bicycle

The original sentiment however is much like seat belts in an airplane at 36,000 feet

All of this, including the video, is exactly why I do not mountain bike. That is just complete stupidity.

50 mph downhill on a road bike is what some might call "stupidity".
