dual control shifters???
I was thinking of ordering these shifters for my trek 6000. anyone have any experience with them? them seem to be a good price at jenson, and I was planning on replacing shifters and brake levers anyway.

i like my lx's but i can see where raiyn doesn't like them.
they're nice and all, but unless you've got the xtr's they don't seem the strongest levers out there.
i don't think i've ever come close to breaking one, but i'd hate to just snap it off, cuz it seems possible.
also a thing for me, was do you really wanna go with shimano or sram, but i'm assuming you've already got that down.. for me, i've been having a little trouble with shimano, but it gets the job done... sigh*, shimano will always be shimano, and sram will always be sram...*

For xc, I love them. Downhill are ok. Freeride they suck.
I hate having that in really techy or big air situations. They do have their appeal (simplicity in cockpit,wieght and personal preferances) for certain applications.
I'd say get them, becasue tou need new shifters/brakes, and its for a xc bike.

I bought those exact levers/shifters from Jenson and didn't realize they were the dual levers until they showed up. I didn't like the ide and sent them back. I ride with my fingers on the levers at all times and don't want to be shifting by accident over rough terrain.

Since you love them so much why don't ya marry them
I ride with my fingers on the levers at all times and don't want to be shifting by accident over rough terrain.

I just got a set of those shifters too. I thought I would try something new. I've been using rapids and thumbies forever. I also picked up the M580 rear der for $30.
Oh, and it's common to get an M580 front der on ebay for about $15-$20.
