Furtado: National Road Champ in .... 89? On Morgul Bismarck Course, riding for Zinn.
(I have a great and embarrassing story about kicking her injured leg repeatedly.)

Jeannie Longo, winner of almost everything multiple times. One thing she didn't win was a lot of fans in the press. She's a bit...odious.

Paola Pezzo? Two Olympic Golds in mountain biking (including the first one ever awarded) may have made her the most famous worldwide - and Gary Fisher put some serious promotion behind her.

Most famous, does not mean most accomplished.
The most famous by far...
1. Kristin Armstrong.
EVERYONE knows who she is. And only because she has the same name as you know who.
2. Jesse Stensland. (Tri-athlete)
And only because she's cute.
It's not unlike Paris Hilton. A complete waste of human skin. She's done absolutely nothing worthwhile in her life, except spend money and squander her inheritence. She is the conglomeration of about 20 things a parent does not want their daughter to be. Yet, she is famous.

Definitely Jeannie Longo. She dominated women's road racing for literally 20 years, winning multiple world championships in 3 different decades.
