Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Every time someone yells stuff at me, they are in a moving vehicle and I can't tell what they heck they are saying. I love the Dopler effect.

A couple of twenty something beach bunnies yelled that at me a few weeks ago. Made this 39 year old smile all the way home.

Yeah, the high-school girls are getting a little stir-crazy this time of year around here. Lots of goofiness in those cars. It's entertaining though, and doesn't hurt the ego.

I had that happen a couple years ago near the UCF campus (not where I go to school, but I was riding there). I thought she was a freshman and met her for drinks later that week. Turned out she was 30...

I always assume they're saying "nice ass" even if it's a redneck in a truck

I've gotten a few fatties yell in my direction. But I'm a bigger guy at 6' and 220. Not fat, but I guess bigger than most guys in lycra on bikes and maybe they think they have a chance with me?

A little experience never hurt.

I received a lot of hooping and hollering riding past the local HS pool where the girls swim team was in the middle of practice. Didn't really know what to think of it.

If you want something to not think about, ride through Cheeseman Park in Denver sometime. I swear, by the time I got through that park, there was a full cheering section at the far end.

Don't even think about it! These days you're likely to end up being tagged as a "sex offender" and have your name put on all kinds of lists you don't want to be on. All for showing your butt.

Perhaps you would be happier in a cheering section in Cheeseman Park or Grassmarket...
