What's up from So-Cal

Hi all. I live in L.A. and commute on my bike two to three times a week, and ride it for short trips. I barely drive my car anymore unless I have an errand that I can't use my bike for (like taking my cat to the vet a few days ago or grocery day). I just got sick of high gas prices and sitting in traffic. It's about a 13 mile ride one way from the Los Feliz area to the east end of Santa Monica. It takes almost the same amount of time as my car because of traffic. I've been doing it for about 3 months now, and it's getting noticeably easier. I want to reach the point where I can do it every day, but i'm still building up my strength and stamina, and until I get a better "real" bike I think i'll just keep it at a couple times a week. (I have a Huffy mountain bike that I bought in the late 90's, am saving up for a Trek 1.2 or something comparable) Anyways, just saying hi.. back to browsing.

Good job... same here...

Yeah, I think a light, efficient bike would make things nicer for you.

Happy riding.

Hi bhop, just remember that Huffy is making you much stronger! You will be flabbergasted at the difference a road bike will make to your commute when you make the switch.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
