For those of you who listen to MP3s while riding- where do you keep your MP3 player?
This might have been discussed in one of the dozens of threads praising/viillifying listening to music while riding, but I don't want to sift through that garbage.
I know that according to some you risk death, and according to others you can't really hear cars anyway. I'm not trying to resurrect that debate. I just want to know where you keep your music player while riding. My music is all on my phone, but playing with my phone while riding is obviously out of the question.
I'm guessing most of you just play an entire CD or some lame mix that you have pre-chosen (I have a few lame mixes myself) and stick the phone in your back pocket. Does anyone have a better method?
Also, does anyone out there listen to NPR while riding or does this make you crash?

spend 80 bucks on the logitech wireless headphones/receiver for ipod. Then throw your ipod in a strap on pack on your bike or in the back pocket of your jersey. I use this combo sometimes, but ive slowly gotten away from listening to music while riding. They look big in the pic but they fit on the ear nice...and dont interfere with a helmet. I think it beats running a cord...ANDDD volume adjustment is on the headphones as well..

When I had an iPod shuffle, I clipped it to my bib strap, and the cable hung in front of my chest and the right earbud routed up out of my collar to my ear. Now I use an iPhone and I keep in my right jersey pocket, the wire comes out and loops around under the bottom and up the side and across my chest. I feed the left earbud under my left bib strap to keep it from flapping around and route the right side to my ear. There is a clip on the wire also that I use to clip it to my right bib strap which helps keep it in place and keeps the length correct. With my old earphones, they would always slip down and it would be annoying. I have the VModa Vibe Duo earphones with mic for the phone, so the clip also helps keep the mic in place...
Edit: the mic on both the stock iPhone earphones and the Vibe Duo has a button that answers/ends calls, as well as plays/pauses music and skips to the next song. So I don't have to reach for it except to change the volume or make a call.

If it's Fred day (i.e. polo, shorts and bookbag), it goes in my rear pocket.
Otherwise, it goes in one of my jersey pockets. Sometimes I cover it; other times I don't.

Ipod Nano. Upside down on left hem of jersey with cables under. Easy to bump a song but out of the way.

Jersey pocket if I am wearing a jersey & bibs, or side pocket of shorts/knickers if not.

If I'm wearing regular clothes my shorts have a cell phone pocket where I keep it. Route the cable under my shirt in front of my chest and clip to collar.

I leave mine at home. Especially after I saw rider get slammed by a loud motorcycle. The first thing the rider said as he sat up in a bloody mess was, "I didn't hear him". Then a witness helped the rider retrieved his newly smashed ipod.

Cell phone in my Camelbak.. Wireless, bluetooth, headphones on my head.. They have controls on them so I can change the track, volume, pause the music, and take calls (if I wanted too)..
Works great, as long as the phone is above my waist. In my pocket, depends. Sometimes the sound drops and skips, other times no..

To be honest I usually have my chrome messenger bag on my back while riding (cause I use my bike to get me places.) and I've taken one of the pockets off my lowepro camera backpack and used the two velcro loops to secure it to the shoulder strap. I typically have my iPhone with me (hey I'm allowed to. I work for Apple.) and it goes in that pocket. That way I can use the basic headphones at a low enough volume to hear traffic and when I want to change songs I just tap the microphone. ( I can even answer calls that way too! )

Correct. I had a near-hit with a jogger this a.m.. I stopped at a light, then proceeded to turn right, just like I would in a car. She, Ipod cranked, looked left and right, but not behind to check for a right hook, and jogged merrily out onto the street. I resisted the urge to tap her on the back as I zigged behind her, but I should have.

I use an ipod shuffle and have it clipped to the front of my jersey near the zipper. Easy access to all the controls and it doesn't really get in the way of anything. I personally wouldn't listen to talk radio while riding because that's boring to me but I don't see any problem with it as long as you don't try to talk back at them.

True enough.
One would have to patently stupid and arrogant to presume to know all the circumstances we might be riding in. Preachy little fools.
