Another pump thread: Specialized or Joe Blow?
Yeah I know... here's the deal, I've read a bunch of stuff here and elsewhere and have narrowed my search for a floor pump down to Specialized Air Tool Comp or Joe Blow Pro. Both are right around $50 and seem to be a good value, decent price, easy to use, metal base. Any opinions between these two? I can't decide.

Go to a shop and try them out on their road bikes. Pick the one that sucks less

kinda off topic, but is there a way to improve the performance of your pump? like putting in a rubber o ring or something. i'd like to get more psi about of my pump, but i don't wanna buy a new one. mine says it goes to 102psi, but it feels like 85psi.

I bought a Joe Blow yesterday. Its really good. I bought it from Evans (UK based bike chain store). After talking to the assistant about track pumps he said that they used the Joe Blow in the shop as they had tried the others that Evans stocked as shop floor pumps but all the others fell apart and the Joe blow was the best one they stocked so thats what they used

I got a bontrager one. It has a gauge on it. It was less than $25. I would suspect any pump at $50 should do its job.

I have a Joe Blow Sprint. After having a cheap target-brand pump, a nashbar with a broken gauge, and a specialized that wouldn't pump presta cause the head sucked, the Joe Blow is great. Lots of people love them - they're bulletproof and pump easy. I got mine from Nashbar for about $40 - I doubt you'd need much more than it, the Turbo and Pro are basically the same with fancier looking handles and stuff.

I just got off of the phone with Specialized about my pump. I have been using an Air Tool Sport for around five years now, it is awesome. I am amazed at how much easier it is to pump up a tire (up to around 160) with this pump compared to most others.
Anyway, recently I've been having a problem pumping it up, the head has been leaking on it. I looked online and found the gasket for $1, I gave Specialized a call to order it. In order to keep me from having to pay some ridiculous amount for shipping (for a $1 part) they told me they would just give me one and drop it in the mail. Pretty good service if you ask me. I'd highly recommend buying one of their pumps.

Have the Specialized and like it. I also recently bought a Pedro's don't like it nearly as much.

i have the joe blow and love it. never had a problem with it and I use it to inflate everything around the house. Did see one once where the head failed on it (the thing looked really abused and filthy) and the guy took it back to performance (I was actually buying mine at the time he brought it in), but the performance guy just took it, verified it didn't work and told him to go get another free of charge.

I have a Joeblow Pro and it works fine, up until yesterday when the gauge stopped working just reads zero.
Called up their distributer and they sent me a new gauge right out, i wasn`t on the phone with them 5 min`s.
I will be happy when it gets here because i do like the pump.

I have used multiple both Joe Blow and Specialized pump. By far, the Joe blow is better. I don't remember the model names but for the Joe blow, just go with the cheaper one. It works just as good as the more expensive one but a little less bling.
I have a Wrench Force that I have had for 3 years and use it probably 4-6 times a week, weekly throw in my car below mounds of crap, and its still going strong. I paid between 20-30 bucks for it.

I just got a 50 buck joe blow from rei over the past weekend. it's not as good as some blackburn and park pumps i've had, but it works.
i go through pumps at the rate of about one a year.

Probably too late to contribute usefully to this thread after that -- I have a crappy Schwinn floor pump, some good suggestions for replacement here.

I have a Joe Blow Pro that I like. The head started leaking one day so I went online and let them know and they sent me out a new head without any hassle.

I'm pumping tires for myself, my son and my wife almost daily. Usually the valve starts leaking at anything over 100 lbs. Then it's all down hill from there.
Most manufacturers are good about replacing valve parts.
I got tired of rebuilding valves.
I've been on the quest for the perfect pump -- good pressure & volume per stroke; a solid, extremely durable, easy-to-anchor presta valve; a durable, accurate gauge; and easy rebuilds for pump and valve assemblies.
Any suggestions?
So far:
Joe Blow, no.
Blackburn, no.
Park, no.
Some Brand-X POS I bought on vacation, no.
