What kind of jerseys do you guys wear when training or racing? Is it ok to wear jerseys like Discovery Channel, CSC, and Garmin in races or do people think your retarted and make fun of you?

Wear whatever you want to wear.
I have 27 jerseys. When I ride, I pick one or several that suit the weather.

Here, no sponsored jerseys can be worn in a race unless you are registered as a sponsored rider. So you can't wear a Credit Agricole kit unless Credit Agricole have signed a bit of paper saying that you are riding for them.
As for what you ride/train in.... nobody really cares. If they do, well that's not the sort of person you want to ride with anyway, is it?
Although I would say in order from coolest to least-cool: Local team, club, obscure pro team, plain, big name pro team, event jerseys....

If you want to wear advertising, join a club or a team. Otherwise just find a nice generic/plain/patterned jersey.
Edit: Didn't see the part about racing... yeah, you can't wear a team jersey for a team you aren't on in a race... although I've seen people do it plenty of times.

And don't wear an event jersey unless you've at least attempted the event.

If you wear a green jersey, you better be able to sprint really fast.
If you wear a polka dot jersey, you better be able to climb really fast.
If you wear a yellow jersey, you better be just plain fast.

Wear what you want...except in a race. If you don't race, who gives a ****. I personally like team jerseys because they look nice and are made well. Beyond that I find whatever is cool and usually on sale. PBK is my new friend because of that. Picked up Rabobank jersey for like $30. Favorite jersey color, super bright, well made, and...wait for it...ON SALE!

I dunno about you guys but I don't really care if people wear somewhat obscure jerseys, but discovery channel and CSC screams poser/bandwagoner to me.

I wear whatever Chainlove puts on the block . Most recently, I picked up a Giordana Racetech jersey. Don't bother with team kits since you're not on a team.

My favorite jersey I've ever seen on Ebay said "ROAD KILL" on the back. I'm still searching for another one.

I know the local CSC office here gave a bunch of jerseys to one of the local clubs for the advertising.
Its funny, I'm currently in Milano on business and have seen more than a few folks out riding on
saturday or sunday morning wearing FULL team kit, riding a city bike. Nobody here seems to care
one way or the other, and I've seen very few racing bikes mostly city bikes.
