Help with Lightweight Steel Bike Search
I'm looking to purchase a lightweight used road bike with relaxed geometry, 853 steel frame, carbon forks, and with braze-ons for a rear rack. The Lemond Buenos Aires through 2006 may be one possibility. I'd like to keep the bike in the 20-21 pound range. Anyone know if there are other steel bikes I could be looking for with the above specs?

Lots. I've got a Waterford that's 18.5 lbs. The weight has a lot to do with wheels and components as much as it does with frame material

Looking for something that specific, especially used and in your size is going to take patience. Your best bet is diligent searching of ebay and craigslist. If you were a little flexible, say on the type of steel, you might be able to find something a bit faster. Soma Smoothie ES seems to fit all your requirements, but it is not 853. There may be more of these floating around, so finding one used may not be that hard, especially if your size is common.

My '06 LeMond CDF may fit the bill. I think it weighs 21lbs with my wheelset on.

Used,sorry no way,lightweight,yes,for sure.
Weight: sub 5kg,thanks to THM Clavicula crank set and Scapula fork.
Frame costs about 1700€.

im with knoxbreezer, lots of paitence if you need all of those requirements, especially used.
if you can do new, you can get the soma frame fairly cheap and its a nice quality frame for the money. Other than that you can checkout guys like soulcraft/waterford if youve got the money and want one of the better bikes out there. you can also look at gunnar who does plenty of steel bikes and they are by the same guys who make waterfords, its just not custom.

I used to have an '05 Lemond CDF but after a couple years with it decided I needed a size smaller frame.
As others have said, you may have a long wait. I did a lot of long searching and finally found an '02 Maillot Jaune on craigslist out of state.
That said, I also road my brothers Soma Smoothie extensively while I was in San Francisco visiting. If I wreck mine, finding another may be tough. In which case I'll probably go with the Smoothie. The Smoothie was a lot of fun to ride and definitely felt quicker and more nimble than the CDF.

Full custom, new frame with all 853 or cheaper with 853 front/725 rear made by Tom Teesdale https://www.tetcycles.com/ for a LOT cheaper than some of the custom recommendations here. Curtlo also builds a nice frames but is very, very slow and has terrible communication.

I got a custom Marinoni Sportivo with custom paint and clearance for long-reach brakes. It weighed 4.03 lbs w/o the fork in Columbus Zona tubing. It easily takes 28C tires with fenders. The cost for the frame + fork was around $900 CDN, so I have no idea where else I could have gotten such a beautiful frame for that cost.
