Question about 5-minute power
Hi, I've lurked for a little while, so I'm not too new.. but I've got a question about using the the power meter. I know about the google Wattage Group, but I'm thinking their answers would be a bit too complex.
I haven't done a FTP test yet, but I did a 5-minute test a little while ago and it came out as 413 watts for an average. From what I can tell, that's pretty good but how good is it really? I've seen the charts for power-to-weight ratio, but are they realistic? Anyone, with any experience using a power meter, have a suspiciously-high 5-minute mark?
(I did zero it.)
Thanks

The categories next to the W/Kg don't mean too much.
Just use them to gauge what your strengths are?
How much do you weigh?
Your 5 min is like 100 W better than mine. Eek...

I'm 153 pounds as of yesterday, which is why I can't really believe it. Or, don't I believe the chart. I'm a Cat 4, and I've never won a race, not even close. And, I don't have much time to train. Maybe I'd do better in races that are 5-minutes long.
Just trying to disprove myself, I guess I'll do another test tomorrow or Monday.

Don't confuse your power scores with cat 4 mass start racing / placing ability... they are related but separate variables with a surprisingly weak correlation.

If you're on flat terrain it's equally impressive.

Being a fat guy, no...I have little incentive to make that argument.
