Destroyed rim, 700C clincher

Today, my friend rode and crashed my bike, mutilating my front wheel. The rim is a Weinmann 700C 36H clincher with Schrader valves.
I can't seem to find another vintage 700C clincher.

Were these kind of rims rare?
What are some plausible, period correct replacements?
Does anyone have one they would be willing to part with?

For reference, the rear rim is a 700C clincher Super Champion with a red label and drilled for a Schrader valve. The bike is a late 70's Puch touring with Reynolds 531 and Shimano dropouts.

Thanks.

Hello since your rims do not match it likely that the front one was replaced before. most any bike shop should have something similar they are only rare because any part for a 30 year old machine would be rare but I do not think they are rare enough to command a high price.

PS never let your friends ride your bike.

Be sure to check forks, top tube and down tube for damage. Any buckling on the frame tubes is really bad news.

36H 700c rims are not rare.

LOL...hahahahahha...yeah, one time a "friend" rode my bike and bent the rim. I had stopped in for a pint. Well, a few pints Brought my bike inside the bar and parked it in the corner. When I went to leave my bike was gone! So I ask the guys sitting around there if they saw what happend to the bike that was in the corner. And they're all like, "Yeah, Joe took it for ride, was it yours?" Um, like I'm the only guy in this bar in spandex shorts and a neon colored bicycle jersey! I reported it to the local police and they called me a day or so later to come pick it up. But the front rim was bent. I'm sure "Joe" had a good time.

Definitely check your frame and fork closely. Those old Weinmanns are darn near bullet proof. When I was a teenager, I was riding my dad's old Windsor Pro (which had old Weinmann concaves) and hit a car head on. The frame bent at the down tube pretty badly, but the rims stayed true. For your friend to mangle the rim that badly, I really fear for the frame.

Best of luck!

Weinmann 700c in stock...

I am almost positive that I have a few of these rims in good shape in The Old Shed and I would happily sell you one but be prepared for relatively high shipping costs. I would have to check on the cost to ship. You might want to contact me directly if this interests you.

And these rims are not at all rare. I come across them frequently.

In bicycles and motorcycles, the best way to destroy them is to let a friend ride them.

When are you guys going to learn? Now you're out your bike until it's fixed and your friend is on his merry way. Any bets on who pays for the repair?
