Buying A RIDLEY CROSSWIND Blue/White?
I am looking for an entry level road bike with Tiagra or 105 Shimona component set on it.
my budget is around $1400 and below.
I went to my local store and I was looking at road bikes untill the seller offered me a RIDLEY CROSSWIND Blue/White cyclocross 2007 model. It had 105 components set on it. Except it is 9 speed instead of 10 speed. it costs 1000$ and could save me $200 to $400. I actually like to have a cyclocross because I want to do some off road cycling too. The bike is brand new but the model is for 2007. Do you think it is a good idea to buy a 2007 model with good components at a lower price?
or do you think I should stick to 2009 and 2010 models?

A 2007 Ridley with 9-speed 105 components doesn't add up. I believe that the 10-speed 105 group was introduced in 2006. Something sounds fishy there.
Anyway, there were some pretty big technology improvements between the 5500 105 components (9-speed) and the 5600 105 components (10-speed). I don't think the extra gear makes a big difference, but I'm not sure a 9-speed 105 setup is better than a new bike with Tiagra components. For instance, what's the crankset on the Ridley? Does it use an Octalink bottom bracket or external bearings?
If you're willing to buy from Performance Bike, you can get a 2009 Fuji Cross Comp with 10-speed 105 stuff for about $1000.

If I was to get a new budget CX bike, I'd get this. Also, if you're a Performance member you get credit back & they're always offering free shipping/extra discounts. That being said, you can always get a much better deal buying slightly used.

If you don't mind Giant, Trek, Devinci, or Argon, Cycles St.Laurent 514744 1677 would likely have the best prices in town.
