Am I being too persnickety?
My new Boyd 50mm clinchers arrived this weekend. First let me state that Boyd Johnson's customer service is unsurpassed. He responds promptly to emails and actually answers the phone number listed on his website. He's committed to customer satisfaction.
The issue is my the rear wheel arrived with a couple of scratches on the carbon. See pics below (with flash and without). They clearly are surface scratches and do not compromise the integrity of the wheel. Still, I didn't expect new wheels to arrive with any scratches. Is this a reasonable expectation? The wheels were packaged well, each in its own bubble wrap sleeve with no damage to the shipping box so the scratches don't appear to be due to shipping.
Boyd has agreed to swap them out. Would you send 'em back or roll with 'em?

I'd just roll them... I always figure I'm going to scratch stuff up sooner or later.. this way you don't have to worry about the first scratch

They were eventually gonna get a scratch or two anyway, just ride 'em.

If they were cheap, I'd figure "what the heck" and use 'em. If I paid for a really nice wheel, i'd expect better.

I would be the same way. New things should look new, but I have to agree with everyone else. There will be other scratches and blemishes sooner or later and then you won't notice these few spots. Feel free to stew over the issue for a few days and then just roll with them. It's not worth the time or effort to send them back and get replacements. You could be riding them instead!

What I wouldn't do is drag the builder's name through the dirt on the internet. I can see that's not your intention, but you're doing it anyway.
He's offered you satisfaction, and yet you are still bad-mouthing his product. I don't get it.

I respectfully disagree with you. I'd buy from him again and will if it matters.

If you send them back karma will scratch the $hit out of them on your first ride.
I say roll with them... and sleep well knowing the manufacturer would have gladly accepted your return.

Dude ride them. The first ride you are out with a group you'll probably get worse than that in rock scratches. They still will look great and perform great too!

Haha. I actually took the pics to show the builder, not for BF. Thought I might be trippin' so I asked the BF community and had my analness confirmed. Rather than quit riding, how 'bout I ride the hell out of 'em for repentance?

Legitimate question.
Humble acceptence of group consensus.
Well played.
As far as "dragging the builder thru the dirt' , I for one , would be more inclined to contact him for wheels after reading the OP.
