Hill climbing and sex
I read on someone's tag line on a BF post that hill climbing is a lot like sex; the better you get at it, the more you want to do it. After climbing my favorite hill this morning, I'd add to that just by saying "and the older you are, the longer it takes."

At our age, isn't the mantra supposed to be: Sex is overrated?
Hillclmibing? Well, that's another matter entirely. Machka and I have just finished a 200km randonnee on the tandem that had a 13km climb averaging between 4 and 5% (a rail-trail, but an unusually steep one). It came just under 100 miles into the randonnee. We put into practice all the requisite skills and techniques, and had a ball...
We've signed up for the 7 Peaks Challenge that takes in the seven highest mountain climbs here in Victoria, Australia. It's run between 1 November and 31 March. Average grades run between 4 and 13% and distances from 6 to around 45km.
We'll be doing the challenge on singles. The prize draw at the end includes an all-expenses paid trip to the Tour de France (but we aren't doing it for that reason).
We've also got a 300km randonnee in a fortnight that includes one particularly tough climb that I have yet to ride up entirely on three different attempts.
So we are looking forward to a season of climbing.

Nobody gets upset when you take pictures of hill climbing.

While climbing especially challanging hills strangers often shout out words of encouragement and offer compliments when I get to the top, not so much for the other though...
Another thing, I can climb as many hills as I want to whenever I want to....
a different hill evey day or several a day if I'm physically up to the challange.
.....Just sayin'.

If I get a flat tire on my bike, it's fixed in about 5 minutes.
