Arm warmers for summer?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Arm warmers for summer?

My wife is developing a skin condition caused by too much sun. The obvious solution would to wear long sleeve jerseys but she already has many with short sleeves. I am thinking that arm warmers would work but of couse they get hot. Is there anything that just blocks the sun?

Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves

Shop around, you can find them for less. I rock the black ones.

The Under Armour line of tops. There's the thin one's that are now available at stores that carry the Under Armour brand. There's the "Heat Gear" and the "Cold Gear". The Heat Gear is for summer.

Try Dick's Sporting Goods at Fashion Island. I know this isn't an arm warmer. But buy it anyways and let her wear it around. Maybe she'll try it on a bike ride.

I just bought Craft arm thingys in white from Chainlove for $8.99. I've had cancer and also have a skin condition that COULD turn into T-cell lymphoma. Yah, I'll wear sleeves....GLADLY!

There are two different versions of the Sun Sleeves from Pearl Izumi. The more expensive to of the two has better ventilation according to the specs.

I wonder if white would reflect the sun any better than black.

Yes, I just noticed this last week. Shopping for a set of white ones, but frankly, these don't need better ventilation, they need silicone grippers. I got the large (6'1") - they are way too long, but I make do.

Entirely up to you, but the regular ones breathe just fine.

I have Cannondale arm covers, they are white and 50 sun protection. They ventilate very well and do protect your arms...not hot at all.

My wife is super sensitive to the sun and she swears by the Craft Arm Cooler. She says it really works and not only blocks the sun but also keeps the arm cool.

These look good. The Canondale and Craft also look good. Now that I know what they are called, I found more examples on Amazon. I like ones with grippers.

I have the PI sun sleeves. I prefer to put sunscreen. Used them the other day on a 90 degree ride and only lasted 5 miles before I took them off. I use them on cool mornings though.

Another vote for UA heat gear shirt for me. Basically the same price, and no need for any grippers. Plus it wicks your whole upper body pretty nicely.

Regardless of what you get, I suspect white would be the color to purchase. Black coolers (even 'cold black') don't really work as well.

These look good too. I came across them doing an Amazon search. There are a lot more choices that I realized.

I have a pair of 2XU white UV ones. I wear them when golfing in the afternoon. They do keep you cool and the sun off you. You can wet them and they cool while evaporating.
