Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Took the plunge and bought a Volagi

Bought me one of these to replace the Litespeed ti cyclocross frankenbike in the stable (BTW, I am selling that bike, or the frame in the marketplace subforum).

Decent deal (30% off MSRP) as a demo bike off eBay. Will report back when I get it. Will be putting some 700x28 all weather tires and using it for my winter commute. Can't wait.

I was able to test ride the Liscio2 DA during their test ride tour. Very nice bike, felt a lot like a roubaix, The tall head tube looked kinda goofy in a 57cm.

You'll really like the ride with the 28mm tires. I switched back to 25mm and now I've got to wear out two sets of these before I go back to 28mm. The ride with 25mm is fine, mind you, but even better with the larger tires. I understand it's difficult to get any sort of fender installed with the 28's, but some folks have hacked in a solution. We don't get much rain, and what little we get I try not to ride in so no need for fenders.

Congrats. I like it too.

But it's the name I can't get past. Maybe it's new and doesn't have brand recognition yet, and thus doesn't fall of the tongue as readily as other made up names, like Cervelo, for instance. But not as bad as Fezzari or Stradalli though.

The only thing that gave me pause of the 130mm rear drop-out spacing. It effectively limits the rear wheel hub selection, but after I read about the wheels this will come with, I am willing to take a chance.

Sounds like everyone here likes it, and I will reports back after my first long ride.

Roger on the 130mm. White Industries, among others, has the 130mm hubs available. The new Volagi's now have 135mm hubs, but I don't see availability of the narrower hubs being a problem. The braking is excellent, but I've also bought a set of the new Avid rotors (HSX I think) to try. The Shimano ICE XT rotors, which I have on my tandem, are also excellent, but are just slightly larger than 160mm and require a different mounting bracket.

Very nice. My next bike will have discs. What's the largest tire you can fit on that?

I test rode one. Nice bike. The disc brakes really do a good job at stopping. I thought it also climbed very well. I have met a few of the people at Volagi, they are nice people that love riding. I think you will have good experience with them and their products.

28mm on the CF Liscio. The steel Viaje will handle up to 42mm knobbies so says the website.

28mm is what I hear, but that would prevent me from fitting fenders. I plan to do 25mm first and see how it rides first.

So I got the bike yesterday. Thanks UPS man.

Assembled it, swapped out the handlebar and stem to my favorite 3T Ergosum/ARX team combo, swapped out the saddle to Specialized Romin EVO, attached two bottle cages, tightened up everything to spec, and did my first commuting ride this morning.

Based on the maiden 20 miles, I am very impressed. The first thing you will notice is how stable the bike is, it's almost feeling like a steel frame, but lighter. And second is how much road bumps the bike absorbs. I ran over the usual cracks and bumpy sections of my daily commute and the bike is definitely dampening more.

I am planning on a 80-100 miler this weekend. More detailed feedback/thought after that.

I was going to ask the same thing, but realized he's new here. He probably doesn't know that we all like bike porn!

One of my riding buddies pick one up early this past year and he LOVES it. If I was in the market for a new ride, a Volagi would be very high on the list...

My team did a group buy of them for winter training duty. Those who got them seem to be happy with them. The brakes all squeal, but that's not really a Volagi issue so much as an caliper/pad/rotor issue. They all have full coverage fenders and flaps installed.

The name Volagi Liscio seems somewhat Vulgar, Lascivious...

Gee, I hope I can say that and not violate forum rules.

I like Volagi because they beat Specialized b.s. lawsuit. It goes to show how petty a bicycle giant can be.

The Liscio is pretty. The names are a bit silly, I'm curious how two Americans (Robert Choi and Barley Foresman) came up with it. lol
But good for them and nice product.

Nice. Black/Red is an awesome combo. Weird naming, but would like to hear ride impressions after a couple of hundred miles.

Well, technically, Sinyard won... a dollar. I guess you could say Specialized may have won a tiny moral victory, but the fact that they were awarded far less than they spent on the lawsuit is also a moral victory for Volagi. (8 of the 9 counts in the lawsuit were indeed thrown out and the breach of contract count was only found for one of the Volagi founders, not both as Specialized contended)

They carry these at one of my LBS. It was high on my list before I finally decided on an Altamira. Beautiful in person. I couldn't decide if the brake squeak from the brakes would eventually drive me mad.
