Let's see your smokin' hot deals!

Most of us have stumbled on a pretty good deal at one time or another, but have you ever snagged that truly SMOKIN' hot deal?
- the kind of deal that every true-blue C&V'er dreams about? - even FANTASIZES about?

If so, let's see it.

Note that you don't have to reveal what you paid -(it's probably better if you don't) - BUT IN ORDER TO POST - you must obey these three simple rules:
a) You must have paid SOMETHING - no trades, found or free bikes.
b) You must have purchased it from a complete stranger - not your bro, not your pal - and certainly not your uncle Ed.
c) You must of course, post a picture of it - or it didn't happen!

When it was a smoking deal, it looked like this (sans Brooks):

I will limit myself to 2012, to make it a little saner. Some deals in earlier years just aren't out there anymore, or at least are too scarce to be realistic.

My favorite deal in 2012 was my Tommasini Competizione. 8 speed DA mix with tricolor 600, attractive price, my size, and incredibly to me, lasted on C/L for about two weeks (not in my town).

Best deal price wise was the Masi I picked up at a garage sale, along with a nice bike work stand. OK, it had a stuck seat post, stuck stem, taco'd rear wheel, and some other issues, but the frame was straight, no damage (other than TT paint loss spot). I won't mention the price, but the flip of the workstand covered the price of the stand and the MASI.

Hard to single out any single deal.

Financially, by far the best flip in 2012 was my wife's mink coat she picked up at Goodwill. Beat any bike flip I have ever completed...

I've come close a number of times, but never equalled the sheer smokin' hotness of this deal.
(As I said, it's better not to say what I paid, because y'all would hate me to peices. )

So far, I win. 1979 Raleigh Professional. Completely original, with every piece frozen in place, $10 at a thrift store.

Sorry, it's the best pic I have. I'm saving up to strip and repaint it, straighten the fork, and invest in a new wheelset, as this one got dented while hitting a rock at 35 mph.

I've found many deals over the course of around 7 years, but you said "smoking deals". Here's a few and I have no problem saying how much I paid, most of them are already gone anyway . For the ones I still got, sorry they are not for sale, flipping days are coming to an end for me, now riding them and enjoying them.

$70 bucks Cinelli found at a flea market together with a $70 bucks paramount for which I can't find pictures (still got the cinelli, p-mout gone)

$14.99 or was it $9.99 (don't remember) Atala Record Professional at a local resale shop (gone)

$40 bucks Mercian (local CL) (gone)

$300 bucks Moulton space frame, ebay local pickup buy it now. (gone)

$100 bucks Specialized Expedition local CL (still got it)

older Titanium litespeed mountain bike found while on vacations at a flea market in Mexico for $80 bucks, guy said it was $80 because it was made of very light aluminum

I bought all these 4 bikes from the same guy while on vacations, he was moving and wanted them all gone, paid $750 bucks for all 4. (all gone)

1982 Peugeot PXN10 (as found, I've made a few mods).
Not as cheap as some, but $75 including a [too small for me] pair of shoes.

1973 Albert Eisentraut. One of fewer than thirty made for the Georgetown Cyclery in DC. Walked into the thift store by work and it was hanging there. Mostly first gen dura ace.

Given what is, stupid cheap at 99$. More expensive than most of the stuff on this thread, tho.
