Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Same here. Been a very long winter and snow just melting here. Plan to ride today as well.
I recall last year in March we had a 80 deg weather day and I rode a lot more throughout the winter.

I miss the days when the switch to DST fell on a race day in April each year (our races don't start until April). It was a regular thing for someone to pull into the parking lot to discover his mates already dressed, numbers pinned, and riding around the course.

I did it a couple of times, myself. And now that it takes place in March, I miss that sense of discovery and ensuing panic. Actually, I think I miss watching other riders go through it.

As eager as I am for more riding, I'm sad when ski season ends. The last days on the trails are usually the best.

I completely agree with the title! I have been counting the days till spring forward. Now my morning rides won't be nearly as cold.

I dunno, I'm torn on this. On the one hand it makes bike commuting an option for me again as I don't like having to ride through downtown city streets in the dark due to the increased probability of a car-bike interaction. On the other hand, my current staple of early morning workouts just got a little bit more motivationally challenging.

Here in most of AZ, we don't do DST, and I like it. The sun rises around 6:40am now. I can get out for a ride and still be home by 10 or so, for a shorter ride. In summer, I'm out around 5am and it is already sunny.

I'm much more of a morning person, when in summer it is still somewhat tolerable to ride outside in summer.

I was thinking the opposite. I'm going to need to mount my lights again for the ride in to work.

A couple of years ago the gal in my club in charge of putting the rides on the calendar screwed this up and decided to make the sunday of dst ride an hour earlier clock-time because of the time change. So the ride was scheduled for I think 9am new-time = 8am old-time. It was below freezing. I didn't go. ;-)

Rode in shorts and short-sleeve jersey today. There were people ice fishing on Lake Erie about 50 yards away from me at one point.

Got a 54 miler in yesterday here in Columbus, OH, a 48 miler early today (well, 1pm start), then a slow (14.2avg) 26 miler with my brother to get him in to cycling a bit perfect weekend. low 50's yesterday, mid 60's today. i loved it.

And, our tuesday night rides start again this week, but the forecast for this week is 43. boo.

I've taken to using front and rear lights on my commutes all the time, regardless of the ambient light. Commuter drivers need all the help they can get locating and avoiding cyclists.

Daylight savings around here means the evening group rides start. Nice chance to get in a fun ride after work -- less boring than just commuting.

Riding wise all it does for me is make it colder for the next few weeks when I do my pre-dark ride. It was just getting toasty too....

Like most of the world, Arizona doesn't observe DST.

When will the rest of you catch on and stop playing this silly little game?

Less light in the morning is worse for me. On the plus side there are less drivers out the first few days as they sleep in past their alarms.
