Looking for something specific

Hey guys I am new to this forum. I've been looking to get a nice bike and know what I want but I don't know who makes it or where to get it. Maybe you guys can help
What I want is sort of a cross between a bmx and a mountain bike. I want to ride through the woods mud over rocks logs and such, but I also want to be able to do some bmxing and jumps on the same bike. I don't really care if its a hardtail actually I'd prefer it is.
Anyways can you guys recommend a bike for this kind of use? Thanks in advance. EDIT: I think I should mention my budget is about $500 or under and I think what I want is called an mtbmx bike? So what is the best one

They make 26" BMX bikes for the cruiser class. They usually don't have front brakes though. You can get a SS mountain bike like a Redline Monocog that should do what you want. SE makes a couple also and you could check out bikes direct, they usually have a couple of cheap single speeds.

Edit... it looks like Redline doesn't make the Monocog in a 26 anymore. The 29 will jump, but it felt huge when I rode the BMX lines at Rays.

You want a 26" or a 24"? Dirt jumper or a short travel freeride/all-mountain hardtail? (DJs are great for jumping, but while you can use them on trails, they're really not ideal. FRHTs are much better on trails, but the geometry's not as great to jump, and they're a step further removed from a BMX bike than the DJ). Front suspension or fully rigid? Geared or singlespeed? (There's probably not much of a selection for geared DJs, but most FRHTs and AMHTs are geared, though you can always convert them to singlespeed)

Here's mine. DMR Drone: 24" rigid single-speed DJ. More mountain bike-y than a 24" cruiser class BMX, but really, it's just a big BMX.

And just for comparison's sake, my all-mountain hardtail. 26" wheels, geared, front suspension, slack as hell, and still pretty burly. Just because you said you want to ride it in the woods, and this bike stomps all over the DMR as far as singletrack goes. Put a shorter fork on it and drop that saddle, and it would work alright as a jumper, though not as well as the DMR, and it's definitely way further removed from a BMX bike.

Second is a Jamis Komodo...probably retails for around $800.

Per Zephyr, sounds what you are looking for is along the lines of her Jamis Komodo, Kona Shred, Transition Bank or PBJ, etc. Unfortunately, all of those have ‘evolved’ price-wise into the well-over-$500 range. In the used market, watch for bikes like Specialized's P-series (P.1, .2, .3, .All-Mountain) bikes, Kona Scab or Scrap, Haro Escape or Transition Trail-or-Park. But beware - - all of those have probably gotten some pretty hard use and may be near the end of their useful life by now

Isn't it a trials bike that you're looking for?

Just so you're aware, that Airborne is a singlespeed. I'm not sure whether or not it can be converted to a geared bike.
