Thanks for posting. I for one find these older films hugely interesting. The bikes and what was worn 60 years ago is very interesting.

That is one good thing about current technology, the ability to see some of these obscure old films. Would never have known about or been able to see these in the 70's or 80's, unless you happened to accidently see it on tv, if they were ever shown on tv.

Ah, these were the days. 1955 was a great time for cycling as cars were sparse on the roads and it was a golden age for cycling as was the time between the wars. A time of corduroy shorts, open-neck shirts and roll-neck woollen sweaters. Most importantly it was a time when British Rail catered for cyclists with specially constructed bike carriages as a result of the Cycling Touring Club collaborating with BR to make the use of rail transport for cyclists easier. A far cry from today I'm afraid.

What really impresses me is the fact that British Railways had a car dedicated to bicyles only! Incredible. That was alot of money they spent on behalf of cyclists when you think about it. You can actually rent a train car today for private use on New Jersey Transit but they will only charge you $10,000.00 dollars! LOL!

Only the young men and women in their eary 20's might still be alive today. In fact, they would be approaching 80 years old by now. However, like most cycling groups, there weren't many girls in the movie. I guess cycling was always a "man" thing to do even 50 years ago.
